Aw…….what a travesty it was for me.

My nieces husband and one of his oldest friends, they were together since Jr. High to colleges…ect….ect…went with me. The friend is just short of getting his title of professor, and said he didn’t have time to zero his rifle and asked me to do it, the day before the season, and I did. BTW, he had the wrong scope rings.

We were on some family land, where their was a house, run down but better than a tent, I decided wake up would be 04:00 for me to pump the camping stove and make coffee, and I would wake them at 04:30.

The friend was…….well……bitchy… ”The Sun wont be up till after 6am!” It took my nieces husband to assured him, you had to get there before the deer, and before the animals of nature wake up.

The land had one gate going on to the property, and massive deer tracks going in on to the land. There is a crossing point across a small river and the deer know and use it. I had us three take a different way in, as not to leave scent at the gate, and told him if deer came in, and their was more than one, let them pass, and then shoot the deer lagging behind with the hope of any lead deer running toward me and my nieces husband. I was very firm when I said ‘stay put’ until noon. The wind was at our faces as I planned.

At noon I come back from my position, and he was gone. I took out my binos and looked toward the house, and saw his figure sitting on the porch. I didn’t think about it, I was getting angry, I walked out the gate, and saw no fresh tracks at all. But I did see a chair by the gate! He walked back to the house, THROUGH THE GATE I WAS TRYING TO KEEP ALL OF US AWAY FROM, after I walked away from his position, and he got a chair and walked back to the gate and sat down, and WONDERED WHY NO DEER CAME THROUGH!

I'm going to one of the local reservation casino gift shop Saturday to buy an authentic "Medicine Bag", made in China out of plastic leather.................couldn't hurt!:rolleyes:
