Today, I went to the local perpetual yard sale shop in town and got a box of "junk" for $.50. In the cigar box were 3 rear sights for rifles of some sort and a small cow's (goat?) horn about 5 inches long and all hollowed out inside.
I recalled a recent "Muzzle Blasts" magazine article about Flintlock Priming Horns used on this frontier area I reside in. I went to my shop and cut out a wood plug for the large end and glued it in place. I put 3 brass screws into it for added measure. For the small end, I whittled a removeable plug and drilled a hole into the far end for the thong teather.
I now have a small priming horn for 4F Goex to service my flinters afield. This is in time for our flintlock deer season opener this Friday.
