Got back my old-old Savage 24

After 15 years I got back a gift I gave to a boy when he was 13. We spoke two weeks ago as I was congratulating him on being a new father, and I asked him if he often shot the Savage I gave him half his life ago, and he said he never did, and didn't even want it any more.

I'm going to give him a $200 gift as a switch off.

It's a .22WMR-20GA 3" with a Simmons shotgun scope, and the now no longer made Warne 7.1 rings.

And what do you know, I got invited to a coyote hunt later this month.

Nice Jon, those things are sweet.
I wanted one at one time, but never got off my butt and got one....now look at the prices on them...if you can even find one that it.

I always wanted one of those M24s and finally got two; one is .22 WMR/20 gauge and the other is .222Rem/20 gauge. They are neat little guns for the farm, camp or small game hunting.

Well it's good/bad:(

I fired one 20ga dove shot, and the firing pin came loose today.

BUT the .22 MAG still shot tight tiny groups.

Any tips on how to fix the pin, I suspect the firing pin spring came loose or broke.......I would like to fix it myself.

The parts are still avaiable from several places and on gun broker as some of these guns have been tractor guns and such and some parts are worth more than the rusty old gun itself.

The prices on these went up tremendouly over the years.

I used to buy them for 200 to 150 range and now they are 400-500 on the boards. I like the 24 DL with the silver and black tone and the fox and turkey on the sides.
