Any good gifts from Santa?

Lets see how good you were this past year. Santa dropped off a pair of boots (which we took a trip to Wheeling,WV and I exchanged for a pair I needed)

Sorry Santa, but I'm picky about my boots.

I ended up with a pair of Wolverine Archer Boots, a Trophy Ridge Drop Zone rest, some powder, a Gun vise for cleaning, a game cart (for those long hauls out of the woods), another pair of elk skin gloves, Turkey mounting kit and some other little odds and ends. Movies, and stuff for the camper.

Santa dropped of a Davey Crickett .22 for my 5 yr old (soon to be 6) and boy is he a good shot already. I figure with the youth mentoring program in PA he'll be able to whack some squirrels with me this year after we get him a lot of practice and training behind a gun. He shows a lot of intrest already and heads to the woods with me when retreiving game. It was a nice addition to his arsenal, since he already has a bow he enjoys shooting with dad in the summer and fall. I have a feeling I better stock up on some .22 LR soon!

I didn't think you were that good this year!

Although, I can't complain about what Santa dropped off for me either. New Moultrie IR game camera, some classic Africana literature, and of course a new Easton hip quiver for the upcoming 3d season. I was also blessed from the parents a great Eberlestock X1 pack.

Excellent Post!

I graduated from Seminary. My reward was my FIRST Mint condition M1898 .30/40 Krag Rifle. It likes factory ammo and my handloads and for that I am most grateful.

I also got a neat night vision scope and was amazed to SEE what all the predators see in the night-time world. NOW the playing field (my farm) is LEVEL for us all.

I am most grateful that my extended family is well and we gathered for Christmas dinner at a family member's home-all 23 of us. That made it Christmas for me.

It sounds like you are starting your son well to replace us older hunters. Well done!

My Christmas actually came early. I had to put my 14 year old yellow lab down the first part of October. A couple of weeks later my girlfreind called and said to get ready for a short trip.

She had found a litter of fox red yellow labs a couple of hours away and wanted to buy me an early Christmas, birthday and fathers day present.

I ended up picking a 9 week old female. At ten weeks she was retreiving a goose wing to hand. At 11 weeks she was house broke.

You guys all did well. I can sympathize with buckhunter. My wife no longer buys me anything hunting/fishing-related, she just says to go the store and get what I want/need, just don't break the bank.

Santa was generous this year, but the best gifts were being home with family and friends.

Now it's back to the gym to work off certain overindulgences!

Old Santa brought me a Burris Landmark spotting scope. I thought that was nice of him.

Ole Santa brought us a Travel Trailer for the farm. Temp lodging for hunting and until the house gets built in a couple of years. Old guy also brought a square tine harrow or landscape rake for the tractor.

Christmas Eve the kids and I were at home (momma was at work) when Zach says that there are three packages on our front porch. Naturally, being the trusting, loving father that I am, I didn't believe him. But he insisted so I looked out the window and sure enough there were three packages out there. So we brought them in. About this time momma gets home from work and we are all looking over these packages wondering if they were put there by mistake. There was no postmark or UPS markings on them. They were simply gift wraped in green print wrap with red bows...no name or any writing on them what so ever. So we decided, what the hell, let's open them, obviously whoever put them there knew who lives here. Someone, we have no idea who, gave us a brand new HP Pavilion Slimline computer with a photosmart printer and a 19" flat screen monitor. The question was "What did Santa bring ya?", well...

Absolutely! Working light for the vertical mill, Remy-Martin 12 year cognac, box of mixed nuts. Best of all, all of my immediate family was home, son and daughter with their spouses and children. Two grandsons home from college and three little grandkids between 1 and 4, and a two year old yellow Lab. It was agreat Christmas.
On January 3rd I was supposed to go to a art exhibit for the preschool my grandson attends. I promised my daughter-in-law.
I walked in and it was a surprise birthday party for me. They figured 70 years was a cause to celebrate. Jan 5 was the actual day. My brother, sister, and niece, with their families from metro-Denver were there, along woth the others from Christmas and about 50 of my friends from this town. It was humbling to be honored. Of course, I got pictures, some 12 year old Canadian Club, and a bottle of McCallam scotch. Since I am a practicing gunsmith and gunmaker I can't be looped all the time, but when I get time to have a drink, I like old bourbon and scotch.
The holidays were very good.

LarryJK, I get a bunch of mixed nuts every Christmas too...most don't hang around long but then there are the ones that want to stay for the rest of the year.....I would like to see pictures of the fox red lab..from Multibeard... spotting scope, Santa also let one here at my place...my runner will like that part...Good family, friends, New house in woods..and most of all Peace of mind for the new year....best to all...gotta run and photo the turkey flock that is in the yard 2x a day...must be the corn...
