I was in our local Sportsman Warehouse, what a sad state of being that place was. They had probably a dozen handguns hanging on their wall, hardly any reloading equipment and reduced stock throughout the location. I was talking to some associates behind the gun counter, 5 of them with no stock, and apparently the company is in the middle of a takeover by a Canadian agricultural congolmerate out of Alberta. In the mean time their product flow has all but stopped. I guess wew'll see if they make it.

The takeover is complete, and they are pouring a lot of money into new inventory as well as changing the completely inept old supply system. My local store now has small but improving supplies of powder and primers, brass and some bullets.
But they still cannot keep up with the hoarders among us who want to buy entire deliveries of stuff before it hits the shelves. It isn't SW's fault.

I think I know the store you are refering to, it was opened less then 1 year and shuttered. They never advertised, the only way I knew it existed was some guy I work with lived by it. It`s a shame. A store with decent prices sould do well around here with only Pro Bass and Cabelas as major competition.

They just opened a new one here in Wasilla less than a year ago - I wasn't impressed with it.

I always liked their stores. You could get in, find what you wanted and get out. Selection, service & prices were good.
I heard Sat. that 15 stores were sold to the firm in Canada, another 30 or so are closing and the remaining company is filing chapter 11.
Too bad for everyone involved.

Anyone know what Canadian Firm bought it?
I know our Wholesale Sports were bought out by UFA. Which should mean good things for shoppers there!!
UFA=United Farmers of Alberta.

I think it was them, but I'm not sure. I hope they do well for you in Canada.

Acorriding to the SW website, they were bought by UFA.
Hopefully it will work out for everyone involved.
(I sure hope UFA does something with Wholesale Sports up here)

I had a staff member at WSS refer to it as "No Sale Sports" because they have nothing to sell.

BR.. yep.. that is it.. 90% of the time I am in there they don't have what I am looking for.
It sucks.. because we have nothing around here for supplies (well not much) so we drive 2.5hrs to still find nothing.

One of the reasons there is nothing to sell is because they are getting ready to lock the doors. They had a real nice one in Sioux Falls and now it's closed.

I just heard about the SF store today. Also heard the one in Fargo, ND has really reduced it hours, closes at 7pm now.

I was in the one in Sioux Falls a few years ago and it was stocked to the walls and some things were quite a bit cheaper then Cabells which dosen't take much.

I stopped back into our Loveland location the other day and was told they were in Chp 11, all shipments they would be receiving would be sporadic and directly from supplier. ie Nosler, ATK, Hornady etc. That was the best they could do. Hopefully they'll be able to survive the trauma.

Mil, I kinda figured that....the one in SW Plaza has only been accepting cash for a week..no CC or checks. Same deal that Wards had when they went under.
