after owning berettas, citoris, and benellis, i decided to trade in my latest and got a new rem 20 guage 11-87 premiere, and a new 870 wingmaster 12 guage,,,,,,,,,man do they feel good,......couldn't be happier and never shot better.

i grew up on these two guns, yeah i may need to clean more often, and may not eject during 0 degree weather once in a while but oh well....im happy. plus i got both guns brand new for trading in just one gun.

my dream gun is still a grulla 16 guage. but $8200,00 is just never gunna happen.

Know what you mean. I have a number of shotguns however when my hand goes in the safe it always comes out with a 11-87 and before that a 1100. Just feel right.

I have all the above mentioned firearms, but it was only a few years ago that I got myself an 1100; I found a used one for a good price on a local gun rack, and it 'followed' me home.
I had my best day waterfowling with that gun this past season....living proof you don't need a 3" shell for ducks.

I`ve never left my roots. I`m a model 12 fan, I still have my frist one, but over the years I`ve picked up 10 more of them. :) They don`t make they like that any more.

I grew up frequently using my father's Model 12 Winchester and still shoot pumpguns better than most. I currently have a representive pump from each Remington, Winchester (though it's a 1300 - not nearly as nice as the 12), and a Mossberg. The Remington is the 870 in 12 gauge while the 1300 and the 500 are both in 20.

And if it's not bad enough that the Mossberg was just recently added I also happened on a nice Model 37 Featherweight 16 gauge that very same day. It'll likely be in my safe well before the end of the month.:D

P.S. We let our little brother have Dad's Model 12 but I own and still use my Dad's Model 141 chambered in .35 Remington. Just something about pumps get in your system.

Been thinking about getting a 870 with a cantieliered (SP)rifled barrel in 20 ga. Looks like the slugs for a 20 ain't too shabby. I use a 11-87 12 ga now and would like something a little lighter for these old bones.

My roots were always the classic SxS doubles and, truth be known, they are still my favorites. However, when it comes to a shooter, if I absolutely had to give up every other scattergun I own and could only keep one it would have to be my Rem. 1100. To me it's the benchmark for autoloaders. And, at least for my part, I'll take a Rem. 870 pump any day over a model 12.

I'm a model 12 fan myself. I actually only have 12 now..including the 2 M-42s. My favorite gun for certain...but I must admit I have shot more shells through 1100/11-87 guns than all put together. Have had A-5s and to be honest one is too many..but I digress. I actually have 18 or 19 1100 based guns right now but 8 of them are D grade Skeet guns. What can I say..I bought them pretty cheap years ago.. They are part of my 401 K investments..except they are prettier than money. I also have a matched pair of 1100 small gauges and a matched pair of 870s. They only made 1100 sets of the 870s and they will appreciate in value one day. The neatest set of guns I have is a set of 5 M-12(and 42) Skeet guns. They all have cutts comps on 'em but they are factory cutts..just ruins the value. Got 'em from a friend who's father was an All American Skeet shooter from the 30s-40s.

But for the best fitting gun you can find for the average shooter..an 870 and 1100 are probably the best.. Now...

Hofts..Could you be happy with a Grulla in 20 ga?? I know where one is back east that is for sale at about half the price you quote..and I don't think it has ever been shot...and I'm heading back that way soon. Have a few guns to pick up myself
