i am curious what the rest of you are blowing as far as 150-200 dollar calls go. i have been blowing a sean mann shorty for about 5 years now, and it has come into its own as one of my favorite sounds, i have even had a few ask how much i want for it. why buy it though (you could buy eric claptons guitar, dont mean you can play Tears in heaven) ;) i just want an acrylic call that can give a better full range of sound as the shorty, doesnt do as well on the quieter sounds. ( i just want another toy)
any how i am looking to buy something in the high end. i dont want to be another fella with a money maker, or a straight meat honker. what else is left. i dont know anything about the expensive lynch mob calls or RNT's. actually i have really been eyeing up a company called Death row calls, out of michigan. i just hate that they are new and to spend 180 on a call with little reputation is a big step. any ideas
ps is it almost waterfowl/football season?

Try a Knight and Hale tube call. They really are great finishers. They do not have a LOT of volume but if you can learn to use one they really are quite good...and they don't cost an awful lot..maybe 30 bucks with a few extra diaphragms. Harold Knight taught me how to blow one years ago and I still have 3 or 4. You do have to carry extras because they use a thin rubber diaphragm and they are somewhat fragile. One of the guides that worked with us won the (world champeens)calling contest at the waterfowl show in Easton with a tube call. The Sean Mann long calls are fairly easy to blow too. I like 'em better than the shorty. Just my preference. I have about 6 Sean Mann calls. Have a white acrylic that I never use..Sounds good...just don't use it. Black one too..but my favorite is the first one he made for me. It's a maple call. I also have another wooden call he made for me. Don't remember the type of wood but it sure is fancy. I've got other high end calls but nothiing really blows better than what I am used to. I also have a dozen or so Olt 800's and a few Olt 77's...Some a new in the boxes yet.

The Knight and Hale tube call was the first call I bought 12 years ago, and it is still the call use the most when they get in close. Otherwise, I have been using a Tim Grounds short acrylic that ran me about $70 at the PA hunting/fishing show 6 years ago. At that time, Foiles acrylic calls were the rage, but I don't know if they still are. They run around $150 and I wasn't willing to lay out that kind of dough for one then. My wife might not be willing to let me lay out that kind of dough for one now. LOL

Just did a google search for them and here is their website:

Those calls look good, and the one my buddy bought 6 years ago sounded good too.

There is a guy here in TN that makes outstanding calls (duck and goose). I have one of his black acrylic goose calls, and a clear/trans. chartruese duck call. His name is Scotty Smith I believe. I met him at our duck blind draw a few years ago but haven't seen him since. Several guys know his calls and speak highly of him. One of the best modern call makers I know is Bob ? (man, my mind is suffering CRS today) of Long Pond Duck Calls. He lives around Shelbyville, TN. I'll get anyone his contact info if you EMAIL me. Check out this one.

Did somebody make that one for you, or was that actually made by Browning? If somebody made it for you, can you PM me their contact info because I would love to have one made with a Beretta inscription and another with a Benelli.
