I just recently purchased a remington 700 cdl 264 win mag and purchased a leupold vxl 50mm scope to go with it. I'm looking for advice regarding what type of leupold rings and mounts to use. Does anyone have an opinion regard double dovetail rings/bases-vs-PRW rings. Also, any advice about other rings and mounts to use. I want a sturdy and stable product.
Thanks

I used to use alot of the old Redfied bases years ago for the horazontal adjustment on custom built rifles, but on the newer factory built rifles they are not nessary. I have over the years used about every kind of mounts out there and found no brand that did thing alot better than any other, they all work. As for the need for double ring on a .264, unless it`s in a handgun, I would think they were over kill. Any good steel rings should work well.

hunt4ever, I have the double-dovetail on a couple Remingtons. They are a fine mount. I also like the Talley rings and bases. They are also very rigid. You can't go wrong with either.

Thanks for the replies. I have not heard of the Talley rings. I'll do some research on those. Thanks again.

hunt4ever, Google "Talley scope mounts" and you will get to read and see all of them.

Mr. 16 gauge, Serious question! If you have never used anything but Redfield, isn't it a little single minded to vote for them without knowing what you may have missed in some other brand. I have used Redfield and there certainly isn't anything wrong with them. However, I have also used Leupold, which has the windage adjustable bases in the rear, and I have used Burris, Talley and Weaver. They are all reliable, just some have different applications.
