Today I found a really nice Ruger 77 MKII Varminter in 22-250 with a junk Simmons 6x24 scope. Gun was Stainless and in exc condition. Had approx 500 rds of ammo. Got lots of reloading stuff. Found 5 boxes of 225 Winchester factory ammo for a very fair price..and an old but like new RCBS RS press 4 sets of dies..one was a Bonanza Benchrest set a couple of case trimmers(Lyman and a Forster). Got a few other odds and ends too. Found a new Air Products acetylene torch set with gauges 3 brazing tip and a cutting head in a tool box for the great price of 20 bucks. Now I gotta get my ol bottles filled. And while messing around I also found a really nice lathe. It is a Pratt Whitney and 8 ft long...but the price was really right. I might just have to buy the darn thing. I gotta stop doing these yard sales...

skeet,

I always brake for yard sales. I have found lots of neat stuff for cheap money. I got an antique sharpening wheel with frame and bicycle seat to sit on while peddaling and sharpening a cythe for $10.00. I put it in the barn.

You did well on that sharpener. I had one back in Md and sold it at an antique auction. Got a whole lot more than 10 bucks for it too. Is yours all metal framed or is there some wood framing? I sharpened many mower blades on mine..oh...and my corn knife. Still have it..Works great on weeds here too.

skeet,

Mine has an all metal frame and a little water can suspended above the grinding wheel. When mandatory registration is passed, I will grind off some serial numbers.

Sounds about like the one I had. they can come in handy..They don't burn the metal either which is a plus. Speed is the negative side. I had a wooden frame one too at one time

I keep stopping at yard sales and they seem to have nothing but kids clothes and old toys. But just as I`m about to quit stopping at them I make a find! :D So then I have to stop at another 500 yard sale that have nothing but Kid chlose and toys again.

A couple of months ago I bought a old Texas made Weaver K-3 at a yard sale for $3.
It must have been carried in a scabbard horseback as all the bluing is gone from the top and most off the sides. It has a small dent just behind the elevation knob, perhaps from being dropped, and a little rust spot or two. But the glass and crosshairs are both bright and clear.

Had a scope break on a 22 Mag, so while that one was being replaced, ( thank you Sightron for great customer service) I mounted the K-3.

The K-3 works as good as a new one, and there are a buncha whistle pigs that wish I didn't have it. I guess in reality they aren't wishing anything any more.

This weekend I found a Kabar hunting knife and hatchet set in sharpened but excellent condition, at a yard sale for $10.
A comparable one just sold on Ebay for over $90 and it didn't have the leather scabbard.
