possibles belt pouch

I just ordered a possibles belt pouch from gander mountain made by traditions. According to the gander mountain tech I spoke with on the internet the pouch should be approx a 9x8. This is perfect for me. I am looking for something to hold my squirrel skinner, matches, flint and steel, fishing line, knife sharpener, IE a few basics on my hip during hunting season. See the picture?

Anyway for $14.99 plus tax (no S&H from gander mountain WHOOO!) I put one on back order (they were out naturally). We will see how she does.

my main concern is will it hold a sandwich? And another sandwich. How about a thermos of coffee.

I'm also a fan of belt pouches. They are good for many purposes. In the last few years, however, I have gone to "fanny packs". The bigger ones can hold a sandwich (or 2 or 3 Buckhunter), a couple of water bottles and other assorted gear (e.g., knife, compass, extra ammo). I also have a small one about the size of the belt pouch shown in the post, and choose one suitable for the outing. The thing these all have in common is a separate belt (nylon) that allows them to be quickly removed without unbuckling the pants belt. My bigger fanny pack has a padded hip belt and acts as a shelf to provide additional support to my day pack.

Whatever works for you is good!

....and here is where the problems begin. You start out with a nice light pouch filled with needed stuff. It's such a great idea you decide you need a bigger one because there's so much more needed stuff out there. Pretty soon you're lugging everything but the kitchen sink in a full out backpack. So.....you go find a nice little belt pouch again and ......:D It's called mission creep and I've been here before. :(

I picked one up from walmart for 6 bucks at the end of 2 seasons ago had a belt and 3 pouches. It has held up well even going threw the briars I do drives through.
