Brophy is around 30 days old, and while his eyes are open he has a slight film over them and appears to be blind as a bat. Is this normal? I don't remember any of our other pups still having this issue at this age.

but then again my rememberer may be fouled up again.

Sounds like there is a congenital problem. Have him checked out - let me know what they find out.

When raising shorthairs I never ran into this and yup have him checked by a vet.

mmmkay so yesterday I get home and can't find Brophy (we have him setup on my grandmothers front porch in the same puppy corral I had built to hold his momma dn her siblings) I start lookin around and finally I call him "Brophy!" I get growled at from behind a pot plant behind me. I turn around and the little escape artist has gotten out of the corral. As I reach for him he backs up and wags his little nub tail rapidly at me and barks. I grab him up and presto. His freakin eyes are clear as day and his pupils are open. What the heck? So I start playing with him (he loves to romp now that he can see) and start playing catch the spider (IE wiggling fingers) Little bugger has good eyesight, and very sharp puppy teeth and claws. So I spent about an hour on the porch playing with him until he gives me this pitiful little growl bark and heads for his bed. Apparently I take second fiddle to the fun of hiding on his pillow in the back of his box when the weather is nasty.

Glad to see his can see, still trying to get an appointment to get him his starter shots, etc.

Glad to hear that and would be interesting to know what he had going on. Maybe just a cold of some type.

The vet has put us off for three weeks! Sheesh, I appreciate it guys and I am glad he is doing better too. In fact he has become quite a character. If you even approach "his" porch you get growled at, and often barked at. of course he also has become quite the romping and biting terror. I have already started working on teaching him starter tricks like comming when called, and sitting, but I imagine he wont learn a whole lot of them until he is a wee bit older. His momma and daddy both know what they are supposed to do, which helps reinforce it alot.

The vision thing still worries me, but I dunno what the heck was going on.

well the eagle eyed little bugger is the run of the yard nowdays, and the vet tells us that other than being about the fattest healthiest pup he has seen lately nothing is wrong with him.
