View Full Version : East !
spent yesterday and today here in NY (Albany at the moment) for work. LOTS !!! of geese along the way from ONT across (I thought we had a bunch back in MI)
havent seen any deer ?? where y'all hinding em ???
On to Hartford CT tomorrow, then PA & OH on the return trip
SUCKS to be working/traveling during hunting season(s) :(
Take some geese home with you, Fiji- we've got a surplus. :)
Hard to believe you found an area with no deer - usually the suburbs and other areas where you can't hunt them are full of deer.
We do have a few. Typical yearly deer kill is around 200,000.
but more geese in EVERY puddle along the way
still havent seen hide nor hair of a deer. Think this sets a record.
OK ...gotta ask..... WTH is a "Kill" anyway ?? Looks like just a creek to moi !
Fiji, a 'kill' is a leftover from when the Dutch settled the NYC area and the Hudson Valley up to the Albany area.
A 'kill' is a Dutch word for creek or river, as I understand it.
You'll only see that term in the eastern parts of NY State.
More and more geese stay in the area now, as compared to say, 30 years ago- as long as there's open water, there is a significant resident goose population. Also, Fiji, I'm sure you're seeing some geese traveling the eastern flyway.
8:00 am this morning - Cleveland neighborhood - while pulling into a client's driveway....
a NICE 8pt and a doe came running around the corner of the clients garage, and almost ran into my car !! Buck walked across the street btw houses and the doe let me walk to within 20 feet of her. Not worried a bit
Client said the !@$^& things are so tame that nobody can keep plants in their yard. Recently a 79 yr old neighbor lady got so mad she went out with a shovel and killed a doe in her yard ! Earned her a heafty fine I'm told.
