I upgraded a few years ago. They keep sending me offers to upgrade even more. I am Endowment. Is it worth it? Well the NRA gets some much needed money for the fight. But at the same time it makes you feel used because they know you care. I'd still do it Dan. What are they offering for incentives now?? Other than a reduced cost... Boy that sounds jaded huh?:o

I'm pretty frustrated with the NRA right now. The other day I recieved a mailing from them that had a dvd in it on home protection tactics or something like that. The catch is that you need to either return it or pay for it and then they will send one every so often. I did not solicit this offer, I am simply a card carrying lifer. If i want a dvd on home protection I will seek it out and purchase it simple as that. I suppose that if I had thrown this envelope away thinking it was junk mail which I nearly did I would have had them swooping down on me and threatening with collection agency shenanigans for nonpayment. This makes my blood boil!!!!!! I have been a major cog on our local committee for Friends of NRA for going on 10 years now and this bush league tactic for raising funds has me questioning weather or not I will stay on in the future. We have raised over 100 k for them and I'm representing an outfit that thinks this is a good idea? I'll be contacting my area rep and let him know that it is very important that he direct me to the genius that thinks this is a good method of generating funds

I also upgraded from Life to Endowment a few years ago. Is it worth it? I like to think so, I mean, where would the US be without them? Maybe would have could have lost a few rights. Even if I'm outa country I support them, Waidmannsheil, Dom.

Dan,
I have been an NRA Life Member since 1965. I WOULD NOT upgrade with them NUMBNUTS. Here in Mansfield, PA we alternate with the Whittingon Center and Mill Creek. PA for the Annual YHEC Event year by year. I was a Volunteer for the first two years. I then had a problem with NRA YHEC activities and sent a letter to Wayne LaPierre and the then female president. I NEVER was given the consideration of a reply. I was REJECTED from being a future volunteer by Bob Gates and the Black Female, Jan Taylor, director of the Youth Hunter Executive Challenge.. I sent a letter to the TOP NRA Management and never was given the consideration of a reply.
NRA is not my first response. They reject responding to PEASANTS and to Hell with them jerks! I see Wayne LaPierre as a dunk pile predicated on my prior letters/emails to him and he IMPERIOUSLY refused to respond to me,a Peasant! Give all the money you wish to NRA. I be dammed if I would upgrade PREDICATED on their past response to me.
The NRA is BIG Business and SMALL Life Members are like their last Bowel Movement to them. We are "just a Flush Away" and the NRA will not ever answer Life Member inquiry.
I am a NRA Life Member and KNOW they do not give a damn aboiut me or my written inquiry.

Man there are a bunch of old guys here. I`ve only been a life member since 1969. ;) and an Endowment member for 5 or 6 years. I have not sent them any money for a year or 2 now and need to do so. I do understand what Billy is talking about though. A few years back a little girl called me and wanted to send me a book I could send back. After I told her a couple of time not to I got a little honked and told her I was an Endowment member and that I would not read the book and I DID NOT like the NRA WAISTING MY TIME OR MY MONEY. She got the hint.

Aw, I sent the upgrade check today......I've had static with em before...like several of
you. Neal Knox and my self locked horns when I held 3 instructor ratings....sent a list that named 4 LEO's that wanted BASIC pistol inst. He quickly informed me that I was not a certified PD instructor...sent em back to him. The money is for a good cause. The next few years are gonna need all the help we can muster.
Dan
Worse I ever found for unsolicited stuff in mail was NAHC.......kept sending it back and had to get DA Consumer office on collection attempts.....that stopped em!

I hate to admit it, but I have been telling myself I am going to upgrade from annual membership to life membership for the last 40 yrs. and haven't gotten around to it yet. :o I wonder, at age 63, if it is even worth it!

Its too bad that the NRA has been money grabbing for a long time now. I just do the annual thing. I've been pissed off at them a lot and just do not join when angry. Right now money is tight for everyone as I can attest as a finance director for a fairly large non profit.
I for one am glad that we have them as good bad aor indifferent as they are. We as gun owners must see the size of the organization and realize that they will not cater to our ever needs but try to keep the big picture in mind. They ain't perfect.
