I rotate my CCW Iron and it is now back to the "1945" dated P-38 and the right ammo therein. I have other P-38s, but this late war gun has long been my favorite for several reasons.

I suppose not many folks carry a P-38 CCW, but I sure do and like it. The P-38 was way ahead of its time when it "hit the street." I like the P-38 and mine will be CCW until I rotate Iron after Easter.

I don't do CC but I agree with you about the P-38 being a heck of weapon. I love mine - a Walther early war version - which my father-in-law liberated during the war and I inherited on his passing.

Hello Adam;
Just out of curiosity, what type of leather to you use to carry your P-38 concealed?

.............and how does it handle hollow points?

.............and how does it handle hollow points?

I handload for mine and have shot virtually every type of bullet throught it - hollow points included - with nary a problem. My particular gun seems to group best with 125 gr. hard-cast lead round nose bullets.

Dutchman01,

My P-38s like Winchester 115 grain Silvertips best followed by 147 grain WW Deep Penetrator subsonics.

The P-38 I used to have would digest every type of hollow point without a hiccup.....save one: I bought some 100 grain S&W Hollow points at a gun show and they would occasionally jam, as would any handload that I seated the bullet in too deeply......seems like correct overall length is more important than bullet type, at least in my gun.

Mine did too!:)

Before I sold my WWII P-38, I used home-cast Lee 125 round-nose bullets with Red-Dot powder. It was 100% reliable.
