we have to get a purchase permit here to buy a hand gun if you dont have a ccw.
I was at a gun store yesterday and the guys papper work did not match and he would not sell the guy the gun they did let him know how to get it right.
I was also at a gun show when the guy ran the info frome the driver lic even thow he did not have to becouse they had a purchase permit he was informed not to sell the person a gun in any way or form.
Has any one ran into this or been denied before the guy at te gun store i could tell it was no big deal becouse all it was was a change of adress problim.

If the address on his permit and ID don`t match the FFL is crazy to sell him a pistol. The dealers license is at stake and possibly he could face charges too. The buyer needs to have all his ducks in a row when he goes to buy.
I don`t agree with MIchigans system but when you`re stuck with it you have to follow the steps.
As far as NICs turning someone down, it happens all to frequently although they normally allow it after further checking. They have a fairly long time limit (I believe) on OKing a purchase, and if you have a common name or something flags it you can have to wait for a deeper inquery.
Again BS but the FFL has no control and can`t be blamed.

I had this a couple of times with Co Instacheck....they took a first name/last name, NO DOB/SSAN/MI/CDL and made a vast decision with half vast info.(until insta check gives a app number, it cannot go to feds for a number). After fingerprints and letter from sheriff, they reversed this and approved sale. After second time, I got an appointment with Governor........I assure you, the criteria for ID has CHANGED!No probs since then...embarrassing though. Have a framed letter from head of CBI in the form of an apology!

Ah huh..running a drive license might have showed a DUI in the past and was being used to stop a sale.....I do think this is what is in the making..we will one day find that if you have had a DUI or any other kind of mark on your record you will be denied your right to own a firearm..why do I think this?..I have seen a few denied border crossing because they had a DUI 20 yrs ago...humm...next?..anybody that has had a stopsign violation...denied.

I thought that the intstant chech was a great thing untill it went into effect. The first few guns I bought all wnet on the 3 day wait. Then they started to go throw and now I`m backink waiting. They just can`t seem to get it together. The first time I went on the wait I was 1 of 7 in a row, the other 6 were cops and I guess I just got in with a bad bunch. I will get me a number in the near future and HOPEFULLY put an end to this crap.

Instant check really isn't all that great. Just another control on us. Mine goes through asap and other times they hold it up..and I had a FFL for years..and have a C&R FFL now...carry permit for Wyoming.. Probably gonna take the class for Montana too. Maybe Utah. I do not buy many guns at stores. Hate the gummit knowing what I buy. In case you are wondering..it is against the law for the BATF to keep the Instant check records..but if your state does it..it may not be against the state law...Sometimes they just use a denial when they are extremely busy.. but it is still embarrassing.
