The First Shot Has Been Fired

About 235 years ago the first shot of the reveloution was fired in Concord, Massachusetts. We'll much to my suprise and delight the folk of Massachusetts fired what I hope is the first shot of the new era.

Living here is difficult. Too many liberals and way to many Democarats. A hand is always in your pocket. Last night the people of this state elected a Republican, Scott Brown to fill the seat of the late Ted Kennedy. Democrat's were crushed. I'm sure Teddy rolled over in his grave last night. Nationally the eyes of American were on us.

If your state is like here, people are fed up. All of know the country is heading to socialism and the shot fired here is an attempt to take back what belongs to us. Healthcare, politican running the war and the fed's spending money like a drunken salior is much to blame. New mind the fact they the pol's just don't get it.

My point is if Massachusetts can elect a Republican your state can also. Get out and vote and encourage others to do so. A balance is needed. Its not too late to take back what is our.

buckhunter, We only send Republican reps to the US congress and senate from Wyoming. Our current Governor is a Dem, but really not too bad. I think he mostly just wears Dem clothes.
Actually, the election yesterday in Mass. helped the Dems. If they had gone on unchecked they would have created so much hatred by fall the mid-terms would have been a complete rout.

I really hate the labeling of people, esp. as "democrat" or "republican".......I would hopethat people would look at what each candidate stands for, and vote for (or against) that person based on issues, rather than political party. We had a woman run here several years back as the republican candidate for state senate, but her stance on the issues was anything but!!! She was antihunting, antigun (voted against our new CC bill that was in the legislature at the time), pro abortion, pro gay marriage, ect, ect........she was so liberal and left wing, she made Nancy Pelosi look like Rush Limbaugh!

.....and, sadly, being a from a conservative district, she won easily, because people voted for the "republican" candidate and figured that she supported their views. She wasn't reelected, but she sure as hell did a lot of damage before she was booted out.

What nobody seems to be saying is that this election was decided not by democrats or republicans, but by PEOPLE WHO STATE THAT THEY HAVE NO PARTY AFFILIATION!!!! That ought to be a wake up call to BOTH parties....people are tired of career politicians that expouse P.C. crap in order to stay in office, and do little in the way of substance.

I would hope that the rest of the country will take notice and do the right thing. This country needs a turn around and if it don't come soon our childrens children will never see this country back in the black.

I agree. Government isn't doing a damn thing other than catering to the lobbyists wants. They have done absolutely nothing on illegal immigration or the impending implosion of medicare and social security. Should I even mention nthe 8 or 9 year war on terrorism? How about the biggest issue, the economy. Then there is the frivilous spending. I don't disagree with spending to get us out of a recession, but it needs to be well thought out. How aboout "too big to fail" policy or banking reform.

They should try to concentrate on one big issue at a time and just simply deal with it. Pass some sort of legislation to try to deal with it, and if it doesn't work then change it later on. Kind of like how social security and medicare need to be changed.

Ritter (D) is not running for another term (1 term and out!). Dems had a heck of a time trying to find someone willing to run for gov. Hickenlooper, the mayor of Denver is running for the dems. GOP primary hasn't happened yet and I haven't heard any names other than McGinnis and I don't anything about him.

In my oh so humble opinion, most all politicians are 'suspect'. Most of the GOP guys and gals are more to my liking than most dhimmicrats, but even they do the wrong thing most of the time.

Apparently a lot of people are saying"vote them all out of office". I am not sure that would be wise. There are many people in office who are in their first term, others have had a long run but are still looking honest and listening to the home folks. I am not sure we will improve the situation by just voting all of them out. Take a look at what they have done, or not done, and then make a decision.

Larryjk I tend to agree..I once thought only one term in office and out but then if you have to please the voters to get voted in again, you might listen a little more than the I am only in here for one term so I will do things my way no matter the outcome.
Fabs, so far I have not heard any good ideas on how Medicare and Social Security could be changed or saved. Any good ideas? Only thing I know is get the 'handouts' to pay into it somehow..In Pa once the unemployment reaches a % an auto tax is activated..as is now..so the unemployed pay a tax on their UPC..maybe do same for things like welfare checks..anyone getting one pays a % into Social Security.
