Where can I get a plain-jane .45acp?
Looked at one yesterday, dang thing looked like it was made on Pluto, (and they ain't even a planet anymore!).
The only variation from the basic military model is, I would like adjustable sights.
Please give me the brand names, I have not had a pistol since my Star BM, that I couldn't bring back from Germany.........boy was that a great hand gun!

Well, I have 1911s by Para, Colt, Springfield, Armscor and Taurus. I like them all, for the money the Taurus is the most reasonable priced. Comes with a lot of bells and whistles, mine is a Model PT 1911. The sights are only windage adjustable Heinie Straight Eights which I really like. The Armscor I have is only the receiver on which I have a Ciener Platinum Cup .22 rf conversion mounted. There are a lot of bare bones 1911s made that don't cost an arm an leg like, Chas. Daly, Rock Island, Armscor etc, but would require you to change the sights. One thing nice about the Taurus is that the front sight is dovetailed in, makes changeing sights a lots easier. Good luck and hope I've helped some.

I have Colts and Springfields in 1911A1 models. Auto Ordnance has a G.I. 1911A1 for about $475.00 (I saw one at John's shop). Years ago I had a Llama and traded it on a Colt. So it depends. All the best...

Thompson (Auto-Ordnance) makes from mil-spec, to plain jane, to ultra fancy. I love my milspec one.

I second the vote for a Rock Island Armory M-1911-A1 I have one in the tactical model. Its a sweet shooter and has enough mods already done to
it to satisfy most 45 ACP guru's. The best part is for $469.00 plus tax you
can own one of these and it shoots just as well as a Springfield, Colt or
Kimber. Great Bang for the Buck! :)
