This is a little girl that we took video of from our tree stand. In a few years she'll be a very nice bear, and a good prospect for one of our 'newbie' hunters.

I had to split this into two videos cause it was too long for photobucket. Yeah it's long, but she's adorable, and it shows you just how smart a bear is. Hubby was running the camera so you'll have excuse the 'wandering', I edited out most of it but.... lol

The first half...

Second half...

We ended up putting food within her reach so she'd have a little extra. She did eventually get the bag but it took her a few days cause she kept being interrupted by larger bear.

If you click on the little arrow thingy at the bottom right of the video you can set it to full screen, easier to see then.

Spring hunt? Who knows.

The powers that be are still having their pockets lined by folks that are totally clueless. The Natural Resources in this area are overrun by nuisance bear calls, and can't convince anyone that it's a direct result of canceling the spring hunt. The city handed out recycling bins to every resident to put all biodegradable food in. They make perfect bear bait so now there are even more bears coming into towns for free food. We're not in the city limits but everyone we know is, and they are not impressed with the increase in bears since they handed out those bins. The bears were bad before, now they are even worse.

I imagine we won't get it back until someone's kid, that is in the right place at the wrong time, gets killed by a bear lookin for easy grub. Last year they relocated two 500+ pound bears out of the kids play area in the village.

We're working on them though, so you never know we might just get heard sooner or later, sooner would be best for everyone.

We've been doin great Lilred. Glad to hear you're doin well too. :)

Luckily enough we don't have to use her that often but she's right on the money when we do. Used her year before last to prove to a newbie that he'd missed so now he's a little more patient and got himself a really nice bear last fall. I take her out every year and put her on some trails just to keep her listening, but even without refreshers she's good to go anytime.

Did ya see the pics i posted in the Dog forum? Can't remember if I ever posted about it but she had pups four years ago and we kept one, he's HUGE! Her giant genes sure came through in him cause he stands 33in at the withers, my vet calls him a gentle giant. lol

Wrenchman...you ever get a chance to do a spring hunt you'll enjoy it. Best part I like bout the spring hunt is seeing those itty bitty cubs fresh outa the den, they are adorable and a true pleasure to watch.
