I was in a gun shop and spotted a very nice original Winchester 69A .22 l.r. bolt action sitting in the used gun rack. The stock and bore are mint, but the barrel and receiver needs to be reblued. The gun shop staff and I haggled a bit and I brought the rifle home. I have already called my gunsmith and will drop it off this week. Once it is reblued, i will post pictures. Take care...

The first rifle I ever owned is a Winchester 69A. I still have it.
I wouldn't want to try to count the number of bullets that have gone down that bore!
Nice rifles.

I bought a 69A 50 years ago. Think i paid $48 for it with a 4 power Weaver scope on it. I did take the old Weaver 3/4 inch scope off years later and put a 1 inch on it. When i was a kid i carried that gun with me every day while i roamed the woods.

Got mine in 1959..Paid 10 bucks aand had to scrape all my coke bottle grass cutting and yard cleaning money to get it. Took me 2 weeks to get nuff bottles together for the deposit to get some ammo. I actually waited till I could afford the best. Winchester 22 Long rifles. I still have that ol rifle and it still shoots better'n me Glad you rescued her Joe. Mine wasn't grooved for a tip off mount though..wish it was

Good catch! It is a good thing that you saw the rifle first. I was talking to your gunsmith and he told me about your rifle. He said he is going to groove the receiver for scope mounts before he reblues the receiver and barrel, All the best...

i like my 69A...accurate, rugged, light and dependable.
when i got it, i had to operate on the stock as it was damaged and the muzzle was damaged so i had the barrel shortened and installed a scope...it had the grooved receiver.
