Well the saxet gun show went off without a hitch, I am sure if I had been able to go both days I coulda found some better deals. As it was I picked up 1000 Remmy Small pistol primers from the reloader supply guy that is always at the shows for $39. That is $10 cheaper than ANY shop I have found in Texas so far this year. He also Sold me two 9oz (IE 1 lb cans) cans of Trail boss for $16 a piece, same lot number. I paid $25 each for the last cans I bought at a gander mountain and that had been $3 cheaper than anywhere else I could find at the time. He says that at the Sept show if I call and remind him he can provide me with a 5lb can of Trail boss for $120. I picked up a 250rnd box of hornday 148gr lead hollow base wadcutters for $20. Two guys at a booth paid me $66 for the old military ammo I was packing and trying to trade off. I had gotten it for free when a friend of a friend passed away and his wife wanted it out of the house. IE I came out smelling like a rose.

Not bad at all. Didn't find any super duper deals, but I am happy enough. Gun deals stunk at the show. I mean I didn't see not ONE deal that impressed me enough to look at it more than 30 seconds. I hit a couple more shops in the area on the way out, but reloading bullets for 30-30s, 357/38s, 45lc, and 45-70 were pretty much nowhere to be seen.

All in all had a blast. Dad, two of my brothers and 2 good buddies of mine where all there. Just wish we had all had time, inclination, and money to go shoot a couple hours afterwards. Oh well, maybe in September.

My find this weekend was a new Martin Bow. Shot it Sunday and what a difference from my 10 year old Jennings. Amazing I punched a silver dollar with 3 at 40 yards. Hey I'd rather be lucky than good.

GOB,
Beat ya on this outing to Birmingham and then on to Tulsa. Picked up a Ruger #3 in B'Ham for $400, nice wood, bad barrel, and a 20 ga 870 for $139, went by a table full of junk and in the pile was a gray A-2 stock, spring and buffer for $35. So that was a nice lick. The #3 now has a never fired brand new 22 Harnet barrel in it, the 870 was painted with spray paint, cheepo spray at that, all green. I acetoned it, honed out the chamber and refinished the wood, made a pretty nice gun, it was recently reblued before painting. I pulled the collapsable stock off the match AR I built up and put the A-2 stock on it, now it looks like a match gun should.

Got to Tulsa, found some bullets including 230gr TCFMJ 45 bullets for 16.00 a 100 and some 8# powder kegs (AA2230), . Then on Sunday, bought a German made P226 with 5 magazines, including 2 Sig stamped, made in Germany, 10 round mags they only made in 1994, according to the Sig site. Sold the bad 22 Hornet barrel for $50, Guy said he did not care. Now I still have a real bad Hornet barrel left for a rebore.

Best,
Ed

Dangit Ed, ya beat me bad. I didn't see a SINGLE beater at the show that wasn't WAY over priced. I found a NICE couple of 32-20s, one original, one new model. Both WAY WAY WAY outa reason on price. I can get a custom gun built for what he was asking and have money left over for a steak dinner.

GOB,
Know exactly what you are talking about. 99% of the stuff on tables was retail new for used. I mean a used gun for $700 when a dealer was selling the same gun new in box for $725, next row over. I don't think so.... With tables I bought most of my stuff from walkins cause most of the dealers were selling and not buying, regardless of price. I went to buy and had some nice stuff, with heavy prices, on my table so that I was not bothered by many tire kickers. Just the young guy once in a while saying, something like, I have never seen one of those before, just pictures, can I look at it? That I do not mind, folks like that, looking at my junk.
