I am planning on getting one was my local provider gets the G4's in. I have the ipod touch and love it, so now I want the phone.

We each have the G3 version and we're getting rid of two phone lines as well.
Purchased two ballistics App's.
We're very pleased and won't go back to a button phone again.
But, it should have a better built-in GPS system like my Blackberry had.

Maybe its just me an old fart. I still like my house phone, my computer and I have an outdated cell phone that you have to push buttons. Technology is great and I use it ever day however with all the new do dad's that are on the market today it just taxes my brain. I'll carry my compass and leave the gps at home.

I do wish I had the want to figure these things out.

I miss when you picked up the phone a voice on the other end said "Number Please". In those days Gun Control was: sight alignment, trigger squeeze and breath control.

Was watching my granson try to download music onto a new IPod. Good luck trying to figure that out. Nothing wrong with turning on the radio and listing to what they send you.

Man y'all are harshing my buzz!

As for the iPod, I do not listen to country music any more, I usually do the classic rock thing. But here in the McAlester OK area that is rough. Where I live the stations from Oklahoma City, Ft Smith and Dallas are all on the exact edge of my reception, driving to work I can get a half a song from each one. The local 'rock' station plays Madonna, so I like the iPod/iPhone very much.

I must admit I like cell phones now. In Germany my car broke down on Autobhan 73, going to the range, with seven rifles in the car. The famous Autobhan emergency phone boxes in both directions were out of order.
I had to carry all of them 3 km over a farmers field to get to the pay phone I found through my binos, only to find I had paper money no change, it took me 4 hours to get ADAC (German AAA). I got a cell phone the next day.

The Iphone stuff helps me keep in touch with my daughter in Germany.

So :p to you! (just kidding).

iPhone 3GS for 8 months now. Great little device! I really like it better than either of the "smartphone" devices I had in the past. Part of it is jsut consumersim and marketing which Apple has doen quite well at, but it seems more function al t me. Now if I jst did not have to use ATT...

Thansk for menitoning the ballistics apps. I had not seen those. That's teh down side of the App Store. Not set up really well for browsing, but the search works if you think fo the right term. Just downloading the Wichester app.

What are some of the others like - worth the money?

Skeet,

I am still shaky on texting, and plan to keep it that way, it is a phone after all. My daughter tried to text me, and besides the cost from Telekom Deutschland, I told her she could call or e-mail, "Dad don't text"

She wrote me that she understood my wishes.........in a text.

Young folks seem to use txt messages more than they use the voice feature on the phones. Actually, txts seem to work at times when you can;t get a good phone connection, and in some ways they are easier to handle than voice or voice mails. I can send and respnd to texts from my wife and kids while I'm on conference calls and meetings at work so they are kind of effective for me. Use them at times when I'm going to be late getting out of the office and so on.

Cost is cheaper by having the package with tv/phone/puter. If I got rid of the package deal, the cost of puter would kill me. On the other hand, I hate to pay for LL + cell.... Cell phones are a good thing to have. I have never seen a phone booth in the middle of the woods. Emergencies, yes..a must have.
