Hubby is already out tracking a bear this morning and our own guys haven't even gotten here yet. Hope that's a good omen for our own hunters. lol

We only had one hunter out last night and he saw three bear. They jumped one going into the bait, a little guy came in twice, and they got a short view of another good sized one that was circling the bait. Hubby was video taping and got a couple cute videos of the little guy bangin on the barrel, and of course our hunter trying really hard to stifle his laughter.

his first visit

then he came in later

Got two more on baits tonight so ya never know. We could have at least one hangin tonight.

Time for me to finish gettin stuff ready for these guys to chow down when they come in, then a quick shower for me. Keep yur fingers crossed! :D

Well we've got one young sow butchered and in the freezer. I haven't had a chance to download pics yet but I'll get to them as soon as I can.

Got the steaks ready for the bbq and the corn shucked and ready for the fire but still gotta get the trimmins ready and do my floors (i hate white floors). Then get another bed ready for a guy that's coming in bout noon tomorrow. Whew! I think if one of the guys gets a bruiser tonight I might just have to start taking coffee intravenously (spiked with Irish Cream) tomorrow. lol

I'm off again! Pretty sure we'll have another on the butcher block tomorrow. :D

I don't have much time cause the guys are coming in with another bear, but I got this pic for ya of the bear brought in last night. Wish they'd have let me take pics outside before they got it on the table but oh well. :)

A young sow (bout 3yrs old) weighed 120lbs.

I finally got my hands on the other camera so here's a much better pic of the first bear brought in.

And the one they brought in last night. A big ole sow, missing all her front teeth, that weighed 175 pounds.

By the time we'd finished dinner and got out to start cleanin it was almost midnight so it's pretty quiet around here this morning. lol

Still got two on baits tonight so there may be another on the block tomorrow. :)

Well we had a blast the last few days. Night before last we had a huge fish fry, never even made it into the house cause we all gathered around the fish pot and munched on Lakers and BSed til the weee hours of the morning. Two went home without a bear but one is working in Northern Ontario for the next couple of months and will be back his next weekend off, the other lives about two hours away and will be back next weekend.

The first bear was 120lbs wrenchman, and no neither one of them had a blaze. Looks like we're cleaning out that gene pool cause we're getting a few like that the last couple of years.

We have more guys coming later this week so I've got a couple days to clean up and get ready for them, which is good cause I got a whack of laundry to do. lol

Nulle...I'll have to get back to you bout how much the camps are charging for a hunt this year. We still haven't succeeded in getting our own BMA so we can only invite Ontario Residents to hunt with us, and can't legally charge for a hunt.

All the guys we invite are from Southern Ontario who don't usually get a chance to hunt bear, most of them it's their first time. Then you get the guys like the second one to take a bear, who we invited for his first ever bear hunt three years ago, and waits on pins and needles for an invite every year. lol
Some are complete strangers to us who are recommended by folks we know, like the first guy to take a bear, who I'm sure will be back next year. We are still working on getting a BMA but it's a long tedious process, and can be really hard on the pocket book.

And yes...even with all the work we have a great time with a great bunch of guys every year. Today is a quiet day since it's raining so tomorrow will be laundry/cleanup, Wednesday is a full day of appointments etc, then Thursday we start the next round. When they're done hubby and I will hit our own baits. There's a huge guy hittin my bait so I'll be lookin for him, but any good sized bear is okay with me. Hubby also has a bruiser hittin his bait. Last year we both got exactly the same sized bear so maybe this year I'll get lucky and get the bigger of the two. :D

We worked for a camp not far from here for a few years after we moved down here. But they started screwing us, and the hunters, around so we told them where to shove it. :)

I've got more hunters coming in today but I thought you might like to see this guy. He officially has a target on his butt now cause he broke my trail cam.

Well no bear were taken this weekend and yesterday I just couldn't convince myself that I wanted to sit in my stand, instead of the pool, when it was 97degrees in the shade. Maybe next weekend when it's a little cooler we'll have better luck. :)

its nice bear hunting weather here.. we have had a colder than normal summer.. only one week of temps above 25C... and tons of rain.. so much I thought I was living in Vancouver again.

Hopefully it will cool down so the bears will be moving for you
