While on a ranch scouting critters today I bought a new Dillon 550B reloader for 200 bucks..like i need it but the point of this post is coming.
A friend and I just got in touch with Kimber to make us a couple of rifles. I was going to get a Model 8400 Super America in 300 Winchester Magnum. I thought about a short mag but not really enamored with this new craze and 300 Win will be around longer than me. Ammo is SO much easier to find....and of course cheape.r My friend was going to get a 84L in 30-06 in Super America grade. My question is this.. The Super Americas will take at least 6 months(or more) to get but they can ship a Classic Select grade in about 2 weeks for the 300 Win Mag and under a month for the 30-06. Plus we can get a significant discount on the Classic Select because we are buying 2, What would y'all do? I'm leaning to the Classic Select mainly because I can get to use it to hunt Elk in the late season. What'cha all think?? He was interested in buying a KImber Gold Match II and was told up to a year on delivery.Stopped at a nice Gun Shop(note the capitalization lol) and darned if they didn't have one that was ordered by someone who decided he needed the money more than the gun. I got to buy it for a 25% discounted price(the guy's non-refundable down payment). I (and my friend) are both happy and so is the gun shop owner cause now the gun is gone and he got his full profit margin. Just took a couple extra months. I was happy of course but my friend is Extremely happy. Gun Show this weekend..maybe i can make a deal or 2:D:D
