When I pick up my RIA .45 in 10 days, I was wondering, how many rounds can I pump down range? Is it like a true GI model (what I shot in the Army) were I can pump 150 rounds per shooting session?

The reason I ask, with one of my two 9mm in Germany, I cracked the slide just under the eject port from firing it too much. My usual was from 50 to 100 rounds each range visit. I forgot the brand name, because my smith junked it for me, I didn't want it any more.

But my Star BM (9mm) would keep the lead flying, never a glitch. Gosh, how I miss that pistol!

Almost forgot......what about compatible parts? I touched on this in an earlier post, but would like the specifics, remember Jon is slow on the uptake!

A couple hundred a day should not be any problem with a good 1911, I'd shoot more but shoulders will not take it anymore. I am shooting an old Colt LW Commander and a Taurus. I have backed off on the Colt in recent years, but shoot it at least 3-4 times a year.

Jon, there are more parts available for the 1911 than for any other handgun, I think. The Brownells catalog must have 50 pages of parts for 1911's!
I seriously doubt you'll wear out a 1911, unless you never lubricate it, or try to turn it into some super magnum. Change the springs every 10,000 rounds, and you're good to go. :)

jon,

IF your slide is going to crack by X number or rounds, it will not matter if you fire that X number on Day One, Day Two or 5 years from now. Go shoot to your heart's content and let the "Pot Metal" fall where it may. LOL.

You should be able to do as many rounds a day as you want and with RIA all standard parts should work.
