Found a used "Danish" rolling block on line....looks just like a Remington rolling block, as far as I can tell. Caliber is 11.7x42R.....

My question is: can this gun be converted to fire .45-70 cartridges with some gunsmithing? Will it need a new barrel, or can it be rechambered? Supposedly the gun is dated 1876.

Thanks in advance.............

Well it has the caliber listed in rimfire..So to shoot 45-70 it would have to be converted to center fire..probably have to be rebarrelled too as the chamber is larger in diameter than a 45-70.. Just my old recollection. If the price is right..it would be a neat purchase..A friend in Md was given a Rolling Block and lo and behold..after cleaning the bore and chamber..it was a 45-70. He has shot it quite a few time..Scum suckin pig was also given a High Wall in a Sharps cartridge..but don't remember the caliber. Get it and have fun Mr 16

I recommend contacting Lone Star Rifles @ Conroe, TX. Google them. They are rolling block specialists.
