Nothing earth shattering this time.. Just picked up a couple of rifles and some reloaders.. 1st of the rifles was a fairly nice Remington 788 in 243. Has a nice 2x7 Weaver variable on it..but I've already changed that. Put a Leupold VX II 4-12 on it.. The 2nd rifle was an ol Savage 340 bolt action in 30-30 with a Weaver K-4 on it.. Neat pointy bullet shooter for the 30-30. It is in very good condition. Paid too much for the 788 but the 340 came home for 150 bucks. As far as the reloaders.. I got an as new Mec 9000G 12 ga loader with another used one for parts. Strange thing is I don't really need the progressive Mec in 12 ga.. I don't reload enough 12s to worry about..but the ladie's husband passed away and she wanted to get rid of the loaders. I got the Dillon 650 she had sold too..I really didn't need it.. Also got some small odds and ends but nothing of real importance.. Guess I'll put the 9000G on ebay er somethin. Nother small gun show this comion weekend

Small gun shows are sometimes the best because people aren't afraid to sell old beaters at them. I do love an old truck gun you can throw behind the seat, drop in the boat, and not worry about.

Well I did pretty good today too. A gal I know called and asked if I would get some ammo out of her garage. So I stopped by and got 14 boxes of factory 243 270 and 30-06 ammo...and (I couldn't believe this part) she had 2 magazines for 788 Remingtons for 243.. Yeeehaaawww. They are somewhat hard to find. Tried to give me an old top break 38 S&W 5 shot revolver.. I had absolutely no use for it..but it is pretty. Has real Mother of Pearl grips..Gonna take it to the show this weekend and try to sell it for her. She also asked me to stop by tomorrow morning as she has some more long guns she wants to sell.. She gave me a Remington 31 to take to the show..In exc condition.. Well sometimes when ya hold yer mouth right... good things happen to ya..

PC...I really wish I had known.. At the last gun show..the fellow I got all the casting stuff from had a new in package 16 ga die set for a Mark V Mec loader... Takes 10 minutes to convert a 600Mk V . And I don't have a Stith mount for a Savage although I have seen one or two. Did you want the one that mounts in the rear sight slot and the side of the receiver? What size scope?? 7/8 or 1 inch.I know a fellow that has a scope(1 in Bearcub Stith) and most of the mount..I'll check

Oh..PC I did pickup a 1 in Stith Mount today with a 1 inch Weaver scope made for Stith..Not sure of the mount though..Don't know what gun it is for. Scope is nice and clear.. My best acquisition today was a S&W Model 1950 Target gun in 45 Colt..A very early gun 5 screw frame and it locks up like new. Nice trigger. Best part is I got it for about half it's book price..and I never even tried to knock his price down.. Got some other stuff too but will leave that for another post

A 5 screw S&W, how I envy you. I have them in pre model 27, couple of K frames and an early Chiefs Special. Let me tell you that as a factory trained S&W revolver armourer, the new ones don't hold a candle to the older ones. I'm not interested in any of their new revolvers. Yes the 99 mount goes in to the rear sight blank and the stock screw holds it on rear tang.

PC I envy you having 2 5 screw K's(I only have one) and a J?? I don't have a J 5 screw. And I will have to say..the S&W revolvers from that time frame were really nice smooth guns. I have 2 first year Highway Patrolmen 5 screw of course..one 4 inch and one 6
Only new arrival in the herd here today was a new Model Blackhawk 44 Mag 4 5/8 inch. Condition is only about 90-92% but mainly blue wear from carry. Got it on a trade but it will make a good bear gun in the mountains. Almost saddened by the sale of the Winchester 54 Carbine in 30-06..It was a nice gun.

Have my Father's 54 in 270 made in 26, that rifle will go to my son, still a good shooter. I have an eight point whitetail rack that my dad shot in 38 and for some reason in India ink(he was a civil eng.) his backtag no. and that it was shot with his 54, .270 Win. I now have that backtag no. permenatly, should put a scope back on that rifle and shoot a buck before I quit deer hunting.
