I have to military-style rifles: an AR15 (Bushmaster) and a M-14 copy (Chicom-Polytech). I've decided to thin out what I have, and will probably get rid of one of these rifles; the question is: Which one?
I bought the M14 first, have taken deer with it, and have a few odds and ends for it (scope mount, extra stock, several high capacity magazines).
I bought the AR15 with the idea of using it as a varmint rifle and a SHTF gun. I have a scope mounted on it, as well as several high capacity magazines as well. It is a post ban gun, so it doesn't have the flash hider, bayonet lug, ect.

I bought both these rifles with the idea of using them as hunting guns first and SHTF guns second. Living in the suburbs of Detroit has it's disadvantages:(

So, if you had to decide between the two, which would you keep, and which would you get rid of? I reload for both; the Chicom is finicky about what it likes; the AR not so much.

BTW: I don't need to sell the gun, i.e. it's not like I need the cash to pay the mortgage, or the kids tuition....it's just that I don't have the time to shoot anymore as much as I would like. I will most likely keep all the shotguns (since I consider myself primarily a bird hunter), but I have a few handguns in the safe that I will put on the block because I just don't shoot them that often.

Keep the AR..It's a bushmaster and can be converted to other calibers if wanted..can't use it for deer..but are you going deer hunting with the M-14??

If it were me I would keep the AR then sell me the M14.

Mr. 16 gauge,

The "End Times" are near per Glenn Beck. I would keep all my guns and use them for trading material when Obama finally wrecks this nation. A gun and 100 rounds of ammo will be worth its weight in gold, in my humble opinion.

Handguns will bring a premium from the unarmed "Sheep." Bunker down, load much and stock food for the "Lean Years." Gold is not worth $1,500 per ounce, but a functioning firearm will be in Future Times.

Probably not much, if ever, any more....I took a Sika deer with it back when I first got it. I do have other 'deer' rifles (.30/30, .35 Rem, .30-06, 6.5 Swede), so it's not like I won't have a rifle to hunt deer with, and most of my deer hunting takes place in an area that is shotgun/muzzleloader only anyway.

Or, I can always wait until the next time the Democrats take control of the house AND senate again....seems like Obama is a better gun salesman than politician; everything disappeared off the shelves and prices sky rocketed!
