What ever happened to the Taurus M450? A snubnose 45 colt 5 shot? Are you kidding me? Just around the time I found out about them Taurus dumps the line and goes with the judge. Yeah try concealing a judge....

Anyway just curious if anybody had ever shot one. I never did manage to get my hands on one.

Don't know why the Judge is so popular....it's ugly as sin and I don't know of anyone making a concealment holster for it.
I would think that in this day in age, with more and more states allowing concealed carry, that a 3-4" barreled 5 shot revolver chambered for the .44 special or .45 colt would be more popular.

..........shows you what I know!:(

well they do make a smaller model called the public defender. smith and wess no make one called the governor that can hold 45 colt, 45acp and 410 all in the same cylinder. it says "mix six" on the website i never understood this concept. just like stacking a mag. how are you to know what round should be ready to go when you have a split sec to draw the gun? i have pondered a judge for house hold duties. i dont really understand where the functional niche for these things is. in the world of defense shooting one of the primary concerns is what is beyond your target. i saw a youtube video where a guy took a head shot at a sillouette with the 4 buckshot pellet load and missed all around the head. in real life where do the stray pellets go? so to rant but i struggle between wanting one because its nifty, and thinking it serves no purpose to any one with the ability to shoot properly. back to the topic, i know they make or made those tracker revolvers that could handle 45acp. maybe that would serve your purpose.

The only 'niche' I can see the judge filling is being able to shoot shotshells....makes it handy for shooting snakes while fishing, although you might need a pretty big tackle box to carry it in!;)

My boss is not a gun guy, he nor his wife. When he asked me I suggested a shotgun, when his wife insisted on a revolver I suggested a 3" chamber judge. Offered them training on how to use it.

I want one of the m450s because I reload 45 colt, and it is better than my 38 for defense. The 45 acps I don't reload for, ammo becomes problematic at times, but I usually have plenty of components around these days.

I sure agree with you on ugliness and awkwardness of the Judge. You couldn't give me one of the durn things! However they must be popular. All the gunshops in my area say they have a hard time keeping them in stock. However, like the old saying goes, there's no accounting for tastes

Oh I ain't saying I like them. I think they are ugly, not particularly well balanced, and a little steep for my blood.

I'm sure part of the mystique of the Judge is the fact that it looks "different" and can shoot different calibers (410 & .45 colt). Having said that, I have always wondered why guns like the Judge are popular, yet guns like the Charter arms bulldog Pug in .44 special and the Taurus 431 (.44 special) and the 450 that GOB mentioned aren't (weren't) more popular? Could it be that recoil in these smaller guns with these 'bigger' rounds is just too much for the average shooter, or is it because ammo is difficult to come by and is more expensive than the .38s/.357s?
I wonder if Ruger ever toyed with the idea of putting a .44/45LC cylinder on their SP101 frame.....now that would be a CCW gun, fer sure!:D

Hey, GOB....I noticed that Taurus is making a .44 special CCW gun. Would that do yah? I think it's the model 445? At any rate, just did a little checking and was surprised to see it in the line up.

It looks, good but unfortunately it would add another caliber to my already overbooked reload bench. Thanks for looking though!
