PA does not have a mandatory CCW firearms training requirement. That is ok since most CCW newbies seek out handgun training from NRA Certified Instructors and my name is on the list.

So far I have a Priest, a Psychologist and a retired midlevel executive signed up and doing range time. All are serious students and will leave my classroom far better than when they entered. I urge all gun owners to take a kid, adult or co-worker to the range to introduce them to safe shooting. We will need their vote in 2012.

GOB,

Many thanks for the support. One does not need to be a Certified Instructor to introduce novices to the shooting sports. A bit of One-on-one will go far to fill the voting booths with progunners in 2012.

Yep I have taken more than a few "newbies" to the range, and I always preach "safety safety safety".

edited:I tried to attach the animated gif of the moron who twirled a automatic and almost blew his on head off, but alas it didn't animate.

Had a very interesting class a couple of weeks ago. A number of the women in my office wanted to learn how to shoot. Took them out showed em the basics and away they went. Every one of them loved he 22. I let each one shoot one 38 Spc and one 357 after they thought they had this down. Convienced them a 22 is fun. On of the husbands is now a shooter. Want to go again. Chalk one up for the buckhunter.

buckhunter,

Way to go! We evangelize pro-gunners one person at a time.

I've introduced a few folks to hunting/shooting throughout the years.....a few have taken to it; most haven't.
But I would at least hope that when the time comes to vote on issues of a hunting/shooting nature, they will at least think with their heads and not with their hearts.
It's sad, but most folks are introduced to the shooting sports today by strangers.....when I was growing up, guys usually went hunting/shooting with their dads (in my case, it was my maternal grandfather and my uncles). I was trap shooting last weekend and there were a couple of fellows there getting ready to shoot....they had set up their clay pigeon thrower so that if it were sprung, it would fling the clay pigeons down the line at shooters! I kinda butted in and told them they were doing it wrong and would have quite a few folks P.O.ed at them if they continued as such. I showed them the right way to set it up and left. They thanked me and then started shooting.....

One of the women I taugh was actually scared to death of a gun. She confessed now that it was totally unfounded. After she figured out a gun would not fire without bullets she is aware but more relaxed around firearms. If for nothing else this was worth it.

buckhunter,

Thank You for your Service. You truly are a Saint for your patience and concern. You WON One More over to our side and that is what it will take One-By-One. You did very well for all gun owners.

I learned long ago that "gun haters" schooled by the Mass Media Did NOT HATE OLD guns. Therefore, I began all my firearms instruction classes with my beloved Flintlocks and then went to caplocks. It seemed everyone knew Daniel Boone and his flintlock was OK.

In firearms instruction, we need to go from the known to the unknown to truly INSTRUCT. The Mass Media misdirects viewers and makes our job harder, in my opinion. You surpassed your hurdles and I must say, "Well Done." Again, we all Thank You.

Its getting so bad here that the Mayor of Boston outlawed these mini motorcycle's. Claimed it annoyed the neighbors. This is they same Ahole that outlawed sugar drinks like Coke and Pepsi on City property. I'm so glad he knows what is best for us.

Believe me my days are numbered as a Masshole as they call us Maine.

buckhunter,

I left Boston on April 1, 1996 and never looked back. I lived in NH and drove 30 miles down Interstate 93 daily to work. About 1996, the City of Boston, or maybe it was the State of MA, BANNED the High-Velocity water guns! I have two in my shed that say proudly, "Banned in Boston."

Be well.

The whole state is in shambles. We are getting poorer and the pol's are lining their pockets. The last 3 speakers of the house have all been indighted, forced to resign but still out of jail.

I have just about had it. I was planning on retiring for the 3rd time next year. The going on here have my knickers in a knot. The state but has been running a deficite for the last 3 years and I see no cost cutting or savings. Its terrible yet the hacks keep their 6 figure jobs and just show up a day a week for work, Aweful.

Yes I will be going but not soon enough.
