View Full Version : life span of mag springs
im sure this has been beaten into the ground many a times in many a chat forum but i almost feel bad for the spring in my g26. it has been filled with the same stack of gold dots for about 6 months (when i get to the range i drop that clip because i know gold dots go where the win white box goes on the target). but i am wondering what the latest theory is on how to treat you mags, is it better to leave them loaded or to alternate mags to prolong spring life. does it even really matter? thanks kt
You're right- it's been covered before. :)

kt,
Rest assured, ALL your magazines will out live you. I have used up WWI and WWII magazines for many pistols and ALL functioned FLAWLESSLY after 50, 60 and 70 years of being loaded up!
I Water-Cleaned the bores of the corrosive residue, but all mags functioned ok.

thanks guys, since this post i have pushed all the bullets out of the mag and put them back just to satisfy curiousity and i felt comfortably in that getting that 10th bullet back in was every bit as tough as it was fresh out of the box. thanks
