I found a couple of guns locally. Didn't buy them yet so just asking a value here as much as anything. Found a pair of Ruger Vaquero 45s. They are a numbered pair by the SASS or something. I saw them a year or so when I fellow showed 'em to me. He was into that cowboy action stuff for a very short time so they haven't been shot very much..He doesn't reload. Well he called me wanting to sell 'em They are in a double quick draw rig. Really nice one too. Custom made rig. Cost the guy 400 bucks 4 years ago....just for the holster rig. He wants 900 for all including a few boxes of factory 45 Colt loads. Don't know that I will shoot that cowboy stuff but the price seems to be reasonable. What say you??

Already did that...he was at 950. I figured the guns were worth about 750 or 800 but I truly do not know newer guns..expecially these specialy type of things. I know leather is expensive but since I got rid of all the whips and chains I don't know any more!! Lol

Consecutive serials bumps the cost a little, but honestly at 900 I would be on the fence about them. Custom rigs are nice, so long as anybody else wants that same custom rig...
Up to you

Well I went and looked on GB to get a feel for the 45 guns. One gun was at 300 with about 3.5 days left and then they were all at $400 or $400 plus. The numbered pairs were all over 1,100 so, if you have a taste for the 45s perhaps 9 in not a bad price. However, the buyers are SASS folks and he has tried there already, so if he had no takers at 9 then I think you would be buying them to keep even at 9.
Ruger is real bad about making special runs for anything and everything. You pay and they will make it. But the resale after new is real limited. Look at it like two used guns that may be worth more split than together.

Problem is gunbroker doesn't always reflect what the current market really is and in rugers this is particularly true. I have seen nib vaqueros for $399 at local gun shows. Used I have seen them in the $275 range. Gun broker caters to the want it nows, or the hard to find in you areas, and sometimes has a decent deal.
People will pay what they will pay. Like i said consecutive serials runs it up a bit, but I wouldn't give a lot of value to somebody else's custom rig.
My 2 cents

Well I got a good look at the guns etc and they are in as new condition..shot but not much. The holster rig actually fits me. I did some checking and it seems this whole setup is worth in the raqnge of a thousand to twelve hundred. He hasn't tried to sell 'em anywhere yet and I'm hoping if he does he won't get a lot of play on 'em. I'm gonna let 'em go for right now. I do a bunch of gun shows and never see Vaqueros for 400 bucks. and i have a lady friend who does Rugers..Her business... But she is off and gone doing family stuff in Oregon or somewhere right now. Why I was asking here.. Think I am going to try to find a Ruger Flattop in 44 Spec. Heck with it. Might be more my style..LOL

skeet,
Are those Vaquero .45s with fixed sights? If so, I would not offer much. I prefer my SA guns with adjustable sights so I can shoot light loads and Max loads to Point of aim/Point of impact. Then all I need is a handy screwdriver to get on target. Fixed sights are false economy, IMHO.

Vaquero's are like the old Peacemaker, little bit larger. They are made for SASS and other Cowboy events. Had one in 44 Mag., but I'm like you Adam do like my adjustable sights. On SA I have without them is an old Ruger Bearcat, my old Single Action .22 rf the sights are only adjustable for windage by drifting. I can get by with that on .22 rf SAs though.

Well I don't think adjustable sighted guns are allowed in SASS. I am also addicted to adjustable sights except on a couple of single actions..the old Percussion Colts and my(er my wife's) Bearcat. Do they make an adjustable sighted Vaquero?? Guy came down to 850..I did not bite. I did buy a Remington 700 BDL in 243 today. Pawn Shop buy..No scope for 300 bucks..going to my grand daughter for her(and her brothers) Sika Hunt. If they get one it's gonna be on TV I think

There some events in cowboy action shooting where adjustable sights are allowed I hear. There are several different single action orgs.
