Anyone else use a food saver for putting your wild game and fish in the freezer. I have wanted one for a long time and recently picked one up. This is the foodsaver gamesaver silver. I guess its designed more for hunter and outdoorsmen. We used it to put up some fish and stuff from our garden and it worked well. Cant wait to package some venison this season. I did a video review on it also in case anyone was interested in one.

We have one....haven't used to too extensively, but I think we will be using it more and more now. I plan on doing all my game I take this fall with it, as well as some corn (probably this weekend).
Ours is just the regular food saver.....

I have one of the other white food savers also. I mostly use mine for wild game and fish.

Been using them for years. I used to sell them in my shooting supply shop.. They are much easier to use now. We put all meats and cheeses in the freezer using it. Some long term veggies too We no longer thtow out any meats

I got in on a deal last winter from the company. I do use it for some meats. I do not like the packaging taking up so much room in the freezer and the fact that it slides all over.

As far as my venison goes I will continue to wrap it in freezer paper because it is easier to controll in storage. I have opened up venison that was pushing 2 years old stored that way that was fine to eat. I package my squash and apples sauce in gallon freezer bags that are stored flat that stay stacked and only take a few minutes to thaw being thin packages.

Plus the cost is way less for freezer paper vrs the vac bags.

I use the sealer all the time and keeps things fresher than if not. Far as fish goes, believe me the best way to store any fish is to freeze it in water. Zip bags work best. Toss fillet in bag, fill with fresh, cold water, zip..freeze..I have taken some perch out just a wk or so ago that was over a yr old and thaw in the bag, fresh as the day we got it. Dont forget though, even if sealed in vacuume bags...will not last forever.
