What to look for in a used flintlock?

I was playing around on line the other night and found a local gunshop that has a .50 cal CVA Hawken flintlock for sale. The gun is used & has a bare bones look about about it (no patch box, ect)....the asking price is $159.00

....I've been thinking about a flintlock rifle; kinda wanted a Pennsylvania long rifle, but this may do. I know I need to check the bore, but what else should I be checking on a used flintlock to make sure it is in good working order?

when I was looking to buy my first flintlock, I was to told to remove the lock and check the inside for damage or rust. If the bore is in good shape, $159.00 seems like a pretty good price. If you had to replace the lock I know L&R makes replacement locks for CVA. Let us know if you decide to buy the gun and do send Pics.:)

Condition is everything. I agree with Johnny Reb and would check the bore very carefully. Take the barrel out of the stock to determine if there is any rusting or pitting below the stock line. If I liked the rifle, i would offer a bit less. My flintlocks are from Lyman and T/C and I paid between $100.00 and $200.00 for them off the used gun racks. Hope this helps. All the best...

Well, got my bore light working, got my two nonworking shotguns together (with extra barrel for the one) and planned on doing some horse trading....

Twas all for naught.....they already sold it!:(
