Customer Service - Baloney !

I w3ish there was a way to warn propective buyers about a company's lack of customer service. In January, I called Braztech (Taurus & Rossi service Co.) to order a new stock for a Rossi Model 92 lever action in 45 Colt. The service rep. said if I would return the broken stock they would replace it. I sent the stock in and called them about 6 weeks later to check the status. At that point they told me to send them the rifle so they could fit the new stock. I told them I could do that since I was a stock maker, but they wanted to do it. I sent them the rifle. About the first of May, they sent a notice they had received the rifle and it would be 2 to 3 weeks before they would be returning the rifle. On the first of July , I called them to check the status. The call was returned on the first of August and they had decided to replace the rifle with a new one. I had to send a copy of my FFL, which I did immediately. I called them today(Sept 12) to see what the new problem might be. They are out of stock on that model of rifle but a new one is on order. Have you ever wanted to scream at the incompetent idiot on the other end of a telephone conversation? I didn't, but I did ask if they knew that hunting seasons are starting here and the fellow really wants his rifle back. I guess my only recourse is to call Taurus Int. and complain directly at the manufacturer. After that it is go to BATFE to see if they have any direction for me to follow. I really hate to get them involved because it will take away from the time they are spending on "Fast and Furious."

Shoot..think they're bad?? Try Browning.. BATF won't usually do anything...except harass you..and sell guns cross the border

Huh, you want what? We do not have that in stock and it will not come up on the parts "make it" rotation for 6 months, call back. That was the forearm metal for a 391. I finally talked the guy into sending me a synthetic forearm just to take the metal off of.

Skeet, Browning didn't have the parts I needed earlier last month. They sent me to Mid West Gun Parts for the ejector-firing pin for a Browning 22 rf. They know when they have a complete monopoly. The little piece of metal about an inch long and half inch wide was $49.50 including shipping. What can you do but pass it on to the customer and tell them to not buy Browning again.

The only gun I ever had to send back was a Ruger #1A in 7x57 Mauser. It had one of those crappy Wilson barrels and had throat two inches long. :eek:
My gunsmith did a chamber cast to find this out so I called Ruger and they said to send it in. It took them seven months to get it back to me. At least the gun was accurate when I finally got it back.

Most experence is with Browning, was hopeing that could find the parts and end them. Guess what the did only took about 6 months. I had good experence with Para Ord several years ago, had to return a Carry 9. Repairs made and pistol returned within 3 weeks and no charge.

PJgunner, I can understand the problem with a 7x57 Mauser. It is still there today. A 7x57 Mauser reamer has a long throat for the 175 grain bullet. I bet if you had tried that bullet (or factory loads that had the 175) you would have found great accuracy. It is a lawyers delight to have a short throat 7x57 and have one blow from the owner putting 175 bullets into it. A long shot - you bet. But most gunsmiths use the standard reamer or mark the caliber line as a short throat. You have to defend yourself.
Yours is a rare situation. The Taurus (Rossi) problem is getting worse - not better. Many shops do not return the firearms for warranty problems because of this. I tell customers to stay away from Taurus and Rossi for this reason.

Another option is to call your local law enforcment and BATF and report The gun as stolen. Report the history and tell them where the gun went.
