A month ago I "cashed in" my many Cabela's credit card points and took advantage of a $20 Off Special offer to celebrate my birthday. The BBT (UPS Big Brown Truck) brought my Cowboy rig last week. It fits my 6.5-inch Ruger SA .41 Magnum and 7.5-inch .44 Magnum in the same holster. The belt holds 12 rounds of .41 or .44 ammo. I got out both SA handguns and walked about with one or the other in the holster. They will do the do.

Tomorrow I have my weekly firearms training class on the backyard range. One student asked to strap on the cowboy rig and the .41 Magnum in order to shoot a silhouette target on the 25-yard range. Such activity is VERBOTEN on the nearby gun club range as "Humanoid Targets" are verboten! Our humanoid targets are MERELY paper, so we shoot many and the political correctness BS is lost on my classes.

I will go do SASS shoots beginning in January with this rig at a nearby gun club. I need to come up with a "handle" for the shoot. Stay tuned.

I have been back and forth for a couple years now on breaking down and finally buying myself a rig for my blackhawk. I just wish it were a vaquero instead. Oh well. Might have to look into the cabelas rig. Thanks for the review.

GOB,

I thought all Texans had a quick draw rig as a matter of residency requirement! One of my handgun students strapped on the rig with the .41 Magnum in the holster yesterday and strutted back and forth on the range. He said, "This is bettter than when I was a kid at Christmas." I told him the revolver was not loaded, so he opened the loading gate and stuffed in five rounds, on-by-each from the belt loops, and put the revolver back in the holster. He then faced the target, narrowed his eyes and said, "I told you this town was not big enough for both of us." He then drew and whacked the silhouette five times center mass. He casually reloaded from the belt loops, faced the target and said, "My mistake, make that Four Coffins!" He then placed more hits center mass. Guess what I secretly told his wife he NEEDS for Christmas? Ho-Ho-Ho!

Naw Adam, some of us just stuff the hogleg in our belt and hope for the best :p I am actually looking at a couple of different rig's Cabelas has at the moment. Maybe I can talk the wife into letting me splurge after Christmas. Just remember when quick drawing don't cock the hammer til you clear leather. You lose less legs thataway.
