Did a gun show in Worland Wy this last weekend... Just a few observations from it.. Money is still kinda tight in our neck 'o' the woods and gun sales on rifles and shotguns are still a bit lackluster..handgun sales though are really booming. And sales of small items are rocking too. My main sales are directed at reloading/casting equipment and ammo. I certainly sold a bunch of it..like 20 moulds and at least that many sets of dies There were not that many people selling reloading items..oh and primers Sold a lot of them and the purveyor of powders at this tiny little show told me they sold almost 700 lbs of powder.. and I believe it.. I sold almost a hundred thousand primers an awful lot of them small rifle. Sold some Encore bbls as well. People seem to like the darn thing. I had my travel carry gun(a Charles Daly/Rock Island 45) on the back of my table and many people wanted to buy it..but not for sale. I bought a little 9mm pistol from a fellow and it sold with a nice profit in less than 15 minutes..I also bought a little 9mm S&W for a really good price and stuffed it in my keeper box. Also got a really nice Kimber 45..on a trade and think I may keep it. Oh..and took a Ruger #1 on trade on a Ruger 77 in 257 Robts from a really pretty lady The Ruger is a 1 B 270 and is a fairly heavy rifle the 77 is lighter and of course probably easier to shoot for a small lady. She and I were both happy with the deal.. Both were pretty much as new

Now for some of the bad stuff...There seems to be a feeling of dread about the coming elections with most feeling that Nobama is gonna win and the other side is not "a whole lot better". Many said that they feel Nobama will just do a presidential edict and stop gun shows and sales of semi autos..legal or not. Then it would take a couple of years to fight it all out in court..even if we win we will lose. Here's hoping those predictions are all wrong..

Hey GOB found a Ruger brass grip frame and grips..oy vey...they are very pricey...very:eek:

My best buy for the weekend money wise was a box of 9mm Black Talons for the little Smith pistol. got 'em for 5 bucks..then I found that the Smith holds 16 rounds per mag...need to find another box now:rolleyes: another fellow had 10 boxes at the show..50 bucks a box..holy cow..2.50 a round???

Oh and another thing..prices on reloading stuff has gone up and availability of primers and some ammo is getting dicey..buy soon if ya need 'em..I just ordered 250,000 primers and was allocated 80,000..The gal that sells handguns locally told me she is already having problems getting quite a few from her suppliers She sold 41 handguns at this last show. Her prices are very reasonable and selection of new stuff has been very good she didn't have a Ruger flattop 44 special though..which is one I really desire

skeet,

I went to the Morris, PA gunshow last weekend. Gun prices were high: a GOOD Mark I Springfield was priced at $1,800.00. Garands were $1,500-$2,200. M1 Carbines were $800-$1,100. There were a few Lugers starting at $1,200. I saw a Hakim in Good Condition for $650.00. I bought a few gun parts I needed and a leather bullet slide for $5.

Powder was going for about $22 a pound for IMR and Hodgdens. Primers were selling briskly by the brick. Ammo was high, but selling. I would not say there was any panic buying in case the Chimpanzee gets reelected. Folks are savvy enough to understand a BAN will merely result in their ILLEGAL POSSESSION if the laws are passed by the Chimp!

Stuff like that military items you list really don't go that high here. Some really nice specimens..maybe get closer..but users in fair to good go for fair prices. I have no interest in them..in fact i sold the old Swedish mauser I had acquired for a very fair price. As far as panic buying..not happening yet but when curious George gets re-elected (I really really hope not) things are going to skyrocket I think. AR prices have really gone up I just bought a new Armalite AR 10 in 308 for a good ..no... great price outfitted with a 2-10 Weaver Grand Slam and 6 magazines. Don't know why just yet..but the price was right. Kinda like that 9MM S&W..the price was right..the deal was real...and I wan't gonna snooze and lose. Oh also got a fair Winchester M-12 solid rib 20 ga deluxe field ..but it has a poly choke on it..Have found another 20 ga solid rib barrel. Bought the gun for 225..the barrel cost 200. Um..I think I is a goober

Yeah Skeet I hate that about the grip frames, but I do appreciate you keeping an eyeball or two out for me. How were shotgun sales looking? A buddy of mine that still does gunshows down here told me he can't keep a combat pump shotgun on hand. They sell out fast as he can put them on the table.

Rich
people are looking for short bbls for some pump shotguns..but this is really not shotgun country. The idea of a "tactical" shotgun is just a kind of oxymoron to me..and most people. I think the tactical thing is hurting gun owner reputations a bit.. Not against 'em but around here quite a few tactical gun shops are operating.. most of the older hunters/shooters kind of look at 'em with a bit of distate. ARs etc sell well There are a bunch of guys using the AR 15s such as the Bushy varminters and the like on PDogs and many coyote shooters too. Even most of the older guys are buying one to use plinking varminting. Most are really surprised at the accuracy of the ARs..Many had Ruger Mini 14s and found them woefully inadequate for the most part.. I see many Mini 14s for sale..heck I even bought one for 175 bucks with scope and mounts...and handguns..can't keep a handgun. I picked up a 9mm pistol Saturday and had it on the table for 15 minutes. I bought 4 handguns to keep.. They are probably going through the roof in a few months if the Nobama critter wins. One of the buys was a Ruger Super BlackHawk made in 1961 in about 98% condition with a Ruger Flap Holster made by Bianchi..the gun is a collectible but the holster is very hard to find. and it is in the approx same condition as the gun. The grip frame the fellow wanted 200 bucks for...but he had the wide trigger for it if not putting it on a SBH and the grips too by the way. I didn't realize the grip frame will fit any old model Ruger...even the Single Six. I looked at some old catalogs and the brass grip frame was a 30 dollar item way back when. How's mama doing? Hope you are feeling better

Wife is doing pretty good. Me I am doing fantastic compared to how I was doing. Heck even got out and blew the cream style corn outa a few expired cans today. I cleaned out ten years worth of expired stuff out of out pantry this week so I have a dozen or so wal-mart bags of targets on the back porch.
