Now that both gardens are planted and the haying season is a few weeks away, it is time to give attention to the flintlock and caplock muzzleloaders. I wait for a nice sunny day and take the guns outside to the picnic table. Each gun is taken out of the stock and the locks removed. I put a coat of boiled linseed oil in and out on all the stocks. I then clean and lightly oil all the locks and wipe down the barrels. After an hour or two, I wipe the stocks dry with a rag and reassemble the arms.
All muzzleloaders are ready for the Fall hunting seasons.
