Three stores today in Nacogdoches Texas (including a wal-mart) and no 22 shells in stock. All three gave the same answer "We are out, and we don't know if we are going to reorder them." I called the wal-mart to speak with the manager when I got back to the office and he assured me they had 22 shells in stock. When I informed him I was just there and they didn't have them he informed me that he was not responsible for the sporting goods inventory and if the sporting goods department didn't want to carry them so be it...

WHAT THE HECK!

At my local Wally World its the same thing, if I get there on the middle of the month the ammo supply is ok and I can buy 22 shells. But a week or so after that you can forget it.

I think people are starting to buy up all they can even if they don't need it.

GOB,

It is the sign of the "End Times." Fortunately, I have put by a necessary amount of stuff.

If you see what you want, grab it when you can. All the best...

Hit two more towns this weekend (both with wal-marts). Found a grand total of ONE box of 22 shells. It came home with me....

One of ours had a sign that said something like they cannot see ammo anymore.

Sounds like the 2008 'ammo fever' all over again....... I have a good enough stock to last me through another rough election fiasco - just oredered two 550 boxes from Midway. They finally got in some Winchester Dynapoint .22LR that our local stores stopped carrying back after Katrina in 2005! Hope they shoot as good as the 'old' Dynapoint. That was some fine ammo!

GOB,

I went to the Mansfield, PA Walmart yesterday morning and was surprised to see NO guns on the empty gun rack in the sporting goods section! The ammo supply looked pretty sparse and the entire wall section of gun cleaning stuff and accessories was moved to a small section behind the counter. The gun gear days appear to be ending at that Walmart.

We just had a new "Supercenter" built and just opened 2 months ago and have to say, they did add more gun supplies like hoppes, shooters choice...etc. But they use to have Mossberg and Remington shotguns at the old store before they opened up the new store and are now GONE!

I waited until the frenzy was over with the new Wally World and went in 2 weeks later only to be disapointed. Apparently (demographics) the sales manager determins what is stocked at the local store, NOT CORPERATE. Demographics evidentally said there was no more need for shotguns, or rifles in our area.

Since the manager is in my neighborhood, I did talk to him about the demographics and he said the new store was under pressure to cut out ammo supplies and firearms from the Brady group and the Sierra group.

I will say I was pissed when I heard this from him as he is also a hunter and a club member in our shooting club. I told him that selling firearms, bullets, gunpowder, was LEGAL!!! I also reminded him that their tactics was B.S.

I also asked him if he knew what the 2nd amendment was. He said of course I do, and I told him that he just broke the laws by bending over backwards to accommodate the Sierra club and Brady club when everything he was selling was LEGAL. I also told him to ki$$ my arse if I will ever shop at wally world again.:mad:

Fortunate up here I guess...Every store seems to have lots of ammo right now. Me and wifey have somewhere around 25,000 rounds of .22 right now, so we havent been stocking up...guess it might not hurt tho :D

The local Wal-Mart had Federal and Winchester bulk packs of .22 ammo when I stopped in today. They get it in and it sells out in a few days. It depends if they have ammo when you are there. So if you need it, grab it. Take care...

I have now found the same thing joe, but thanks for the heads up. Still no 20 gauge being stocked, but I did pick up a few 22s.

well I had been told from our local ammo shop and this guy can get anything you need..that the places that load our ammo for sale in places like wally world etc etc even his store has such a shortage of brass that the profit margin for a boix of 22 makes it not worth their while to use what brass they can get for 22. They are making things like 06, 7mag etc etc out of it. Started when obummer made the military gring brass and sell as scrap to china..NRA got that reversed but not before a few months worth of brass went to china. We all talk about them taking away our guns and the 2nd amd etc..but listen, we need to preserve our Ammo for our guns. If obummer gets back in, he wants to raise the tax on our ammo 500%....sure, you can own a gun but can't find anything to shoot out of it...an expensive club. So that is what we need. buy it when you find it before price goes up or can't find it at all and we need to get NRA and anyone else to stop them attacking our ammo dept...a gun does not work without ammo...almost like you can own a car but can't own tires..or find gas..what good is it without the 'working' parts.

when kmart first opened in my area, we had a man in the sporting goods dept that was avid outdoorsman. The hunting/fishing dept would give bass pro a run for the money..he said he liked to stock all the things he likes or 'needs' ..then came the day he didn't work there anymore...now there is one little spot you can buy a few hooks and bobbers..mostly did away with the outdoor part of sporting goods....but if you are a ball jocky...yee ha...aisles and aisles..then again they did open a SPORTING GOODS store here in the mall...lets see..golf, basketball..those shirts with the ball team logos..na..that isnt a sporting goods store..

Yeah one of my local shops can get anything I need too. So long as I will pay $8+ a box for 22 shells, $30+ a box for 223 shells, and $20+ a box for field load shotgun shells......

Man at sportsmans club yesterday told me he paid $30 a box of 300 mag shells last year..this year..same thing..$60....I told him he should of got them before not find any at all...anyhow, this was dunhams and they aren't exactly that cheap of a store to shop in to begin with. The dunhams in chippewa pa has very little by way of ammo. Maybe I just didn't see it between the golf shirts, ball team logo clothes...Maybe I am missing out on a new hobby.

Our Wally world has bulk box (500 rounds) of Win shoot it up stuff. I have bought a few boxes for the grandkids for Christmas. Odd thing is they have single boxes for like $45 and double boxes, two wrapped in plastic, for $46. Now go figure that.

By the by, I like my Chippewa boots (been wearing the smooth sole model since 69) right up until the sole separated on my new boots. I wear this model all over the world bird hunting. Chippewa would not take them back for repair unless a dealer sent them in. My dealer is out of business, so they wanted me to ship them to a dealer in PA (did not sell the boots to me) and have that dealer send them to the factory. Told them to stick their boots and their warranty. Their boots now are like a lot of "new stuff" they are no longer made to last and the people in customer service offer you no service at all and an attitude to boot (excuse the pun).

Bought a box of 225 Rem. Golden Bullets at Wally World yesterday for a little over 11 bucks with 5.5% sales tax included. First I've seen there in a long long time Might be some although dim light at the end of the tunnel.
