2012 Waterfowl Shotgun

Was out this morning shooting pasture clays with my Bernardelli Brescia 12 ga. This is a hammer gun in the classic style of the old waterfowl side by sides. I have plenty of bismuth and KentMatrix as it is choked mod. and full. It has 27.6" barrels and 2.75: chambers, which is fine with me as 80% of my waterfowls hunting is done with 2.75" shells even when useing steel. Have also been shooting a Bernardelli Super Gamecock other years, but at my age decided wanted to go back to Granddads era for waterfowl hunting. Am looking forward to the season. Yet opening weekend I'll be in Neb. to watch the Badgers play the Cornhuskers. After yesterdays came don't know why though.

Found out that my old friend arthritis bothers me in trying to cock the hammers quickly and safely. Have to load the shotgun, leave open and then cock the hammers and wait for the ducks. But if one is a little slow on learning and does not close the breach before elevating the barrels the shells land by your feet. So will go back to my hammerless sxss for ducks.

Sorry for that Arthur thing PC..Gettin old sucks..don't it. I have a friend back east in Md who shoots a twist steel nitro proofed hammer gun. English gun but don't remember the make..may be a Boss..Beautiful gun and he do shoot it very well And did I say beautiful?? Unhappily I am not much of a SxS person..not that I don't have a few.. such as NID 28 a Win 21 in 20 and a few others..I had and sold a nice Win 21 16 ga..skeet 1 & 2. Pretty but it was a 16. So I sold it. One I am looking for a trigger guard for I bought at a yard sale. It is a Stevens 311 20 ga..but remember the plastic stock and forend.?? That is what it has. Trigger guard is broken and Gun parts is nada on that. Would it be possible to open the gun..cock the hammers and pick it up to shoot closing the gun?? That is what the fellow who owned the NID 28 did ..on quail. It had no safety and he carried it open. But it is not a hammer gun

Try Jack First, he might have a trigger guard. Have to Gooogle him.

Dag nab..forgot to call J First today.. Did call S&W and got a couple broken parts. Bought a S&W 19..4 inch gun for 250 bucks.. Needed a bit of work though. Think it was Ed down in Fl had a problem with one.. this one also had the same problem..needed a new extractor rod..internal. Didn't want to open easily.... and made sure i got the right length. Gonna call JF on Tuesday. Also checked Gun Parts and they have 'em in stock but don'r know if they are the same with plastic stocks.. Thanks for the heads up on Jack First, PC.

My 2012 duck gun for Wisconsin solved: No Ducks! Am taking my Browning 2000 to SW Louisiana right after Christmas for annual duck hunt.
