Since I do this for a living anyway I thought I would start passing the information on the bad infections on to my huntchat family.
Live Security Platinum
This is a new virus/malware/worm that slides right past every known active scanner. Once it infects it pulls down a metric ton of garbage and installs it and bogs your machine.
I have edited to retract this cleanup method as they require payment to remove it once it is scanned. Once I find the right method I will post it.

alrighty here is the removal method. It SHOULD work if you follow the instructions. I had one machine that took extra effort to get it to go off.

GOB, I just got done with geek squad..my kaspersky found mal/spyware trojan...could this be the one you speak of?...anyhow, they cleaned things up..funny thing though, I just renewed virus protection with best buy and geeksquad a month ago..it showed some now working..but i was not registered even though they took my $ back then...and I had made few calls back then to ensure it was all working etc etc.. seems fine now..thanks for heads up.

Skeeter, it could be anything. There are almost unlimited number of spyware and malware out there.
Here is my normal cleanup routine.
#1 run Steve Gould's cleanup program to remove temp files and garbage (makes scans run faster)
#2 update and run malwarebytes (may have to repeat this step a couple of times with reboots)
#3 update and run microsoft security essentials (my choice for home AV as it is free, AND it works better than alot of the paid programs I have found)
#4 run all the windows updates and get the machine up to date.
#5 if that doesn't clean it up then it is time for a reformat.
