Just thought I would show you a picture of my new toy it is a Mechtech carbine upper coupled to my Rock Island Armory tactical 1911 lower. It is a ball to shoot and very accurate! :D That group was shot offhand at 25 yds! Merry Christmas everybody!

Skeet,
How have you been? I have not posted here in a while, anyways I bought this
after looking at Mechtech's website. They also have a unit to fit Glock lowers, This one will couple up to any standard 1911 lower frame .
You remove your barrel and slide from your 1911 pistol, and the pistol slides into the bottom of the Carbine unit and put your slide stop pin back in your pistol and your ready to rock! Also the bonus of having a 16" barrel gives your ammo a 250 to 300 fps boost!
It takes less than 30 seconds to put together. I was first looking to buy a Tommy Gun but after seeing the prices and they have a long hard trigger, I decided to get this instead. It is very accurate and actually too much fun! :):D
Regards and Happy Holidays ! 6.5

Been doing ok.. Can't catch an elk..suckers really move through that timber. There was another upper avaialble quite a few years ago...somethin like this..and it was neat...but very expensive...so being the cheapie i am i didn't buy it..wish I had. It was a good shooter too. I saw one at a gun show recently and they wanted like 425 for it..new in the box.. Hey..have fun with this sucker..save that brass too. it's gonna get hard to get also Merry Christmas to ya and hope you and yours have a really good New Year

This pic is of my Para stainless Lower attached to my Mech Tech CCU Carbine conversion unit. This shoots i inch or less groups at 25 and 50 yds but the 45 ACP drops like a rock at 100 yds needs a 13" holdover using a 3 moa red dot ahttp://i766.photobucket.com/albums/xx303/Brendaandroy/100_0941_zps2762b66f.jpg:)nd using Federal factory 230 gr FMJ ammo. Lots of fun to shoot its an ammo eater!

The new "M4" style stock sure looks better than their original design. I have been wanting one of these, but just haven't "got 'er done" yet. :)

I'm thinking my ten-round magazines would look good with it too.

Seawolf.
The ten round magazines fit and work great with this set up . Other options are 15 round mag or if you can find one they made a long time ago a 30 round barrel type mag that will work, but talk about a boat anchor to shoot!
Very Heavy! mag looked like something you would use on a Tommy Gun .
I forget the name of the manufacturer. :):D Last I saw Mechtech had a waiting list on their website to order these things:rolleyes:

Just wanted to share with you guys some interesting facts I found out about the increased velocity you get with a 16 1/2 inch barrel on this Mech tech unit.

I chronographed some factory loads in the 45 ACP , the box listed them at 830 fps from the 16 inch barrel they clocked 950 fps! Similar speeds were Chronoed with my reloads using 230 gr hardball bullets. Not as much increase in fps as I expected but an increase never the less.
Regards 6.5 :)
