Shooting Saturday with GoodOlBoy (my oldest and my middle Son) were shooting at the targets in front of GoodOlBoy's home when GoodOlBoy said lets shoot with blunts and use things in the yard for targets.

Well we threw a empty milk jug, a couple of aluminum soda cans, a tin can and used a hole S#*t load of pine cones around the yard and used all of those for targets.

We started with the milk jug and the best hit with the blunts got to choose the next target. We would shoot from where ever the last target landed after shooting it. If no one got the next target, then who ever got the closest when the arrow stopped gets to choose the next one. Closest was determined by seeing whose nock was closest to the target. The targets were from a couple of feet from the shooter to 40 or 50 yards across the yard.

Scoring only counts for each target and no one was keeping score anyway. The only thing that counted was how good a time you could have, and how adventurous or creative you could get with the next target if you won the last target.

We spent 3 or 4 hours enjoying this never got tired of it. The only reason we stopped was the need of nature break, and myself and my wife having to start for home.

So the next time you decide your bored and you've got a bow and arrows handy, mount up your blunts and have a good ol time chasing targets all over your yard.

GoodOlBoy yard pool/golf (what ever) is a heck of a good time.

Now that sounds fun. We use to toss arrows and have to soot them from where they landed. Anyone can sight in at 30,20 or what ever and shoot the speck off the spot every time however just as your game would do, this gives you that unmeasured distance to shoot from. Good for guessing yards etc. I knew guy shot for Bear Archery and he had hard time when not standing at that 'given' yardage every time. We could out shoot him at times...I still like the water balloon hanging from string over your head while shooting at the one supporting it at say 20 yds or so. Quick draw, aim, shoot and if you lucky, broke your target first that released the lid with nail in it and broke the balloon in the box and soaked your buddy with ice water..good on hot summer day of playing.

Game is. Place a box on a T post that both stand under while shooting. Tie string to hinged lid with nail in it that punches balloon in the box. Sit cold water filled balloon in the box. The string now criss crosses out to another water filled balloon that hangs from the string off another T post and the weight of this holds the lid open over the balloon...on count of 3 or so, draw arrow from quiver, draw, aim, hold breath and shoot and if you lucky, don't miss..when balloon breaks, releases string that holds lid open and nail drills balloon over buddies head.

With traditon archery we would tape a firecracker on and arrow and shoot it in the air. Its amazing how quick it looses it speed when the firecracker goes off.

Then again we had no business shooting a arrow in the air in a residental area.

Ah huh buckhunter, you are the owner of all those arrows that were found stuck in the roof tops of houses back where I use to live... one was stuck about 4 inches at the edge of porch over the door way..how lucky everyone was...but always wondered how they use to set a fire on end of one back in old day and burn down a castle..would fire keep burning or would the speed/wind put it out?

Bow fishing. Now there is a very fun sport. Use to do that all the time..Carp start spawn in this area around May or so...loads of fun and the arrow in the air reminds me of the first bowfishing set up my buddy tried..short string..arrow hit end and came right back at him..whew..lessons learned.

Yepo we been callin it cabbage golf (I will have to explain someday). But ya picks a target and everybody shoots at it. Some targets get smaller (pine cones tend to break up) ad some targets get farther away (old soup cans tend to evak the AO when hit) But thats all part of the stragidy..... Heck of alot of fun, and I learned more in two hours walkin the yard an cabbage golfin' than I have in the last ten years shootin targets and 3ds.... love it love it

GoodOlBoy and myself took some 2 ltr and 1 ltr soda bottles with the caps screwed on goot and tight, and thru those into the yard targets.

The sealed soda bottles when hit with a blunt arrow will take off like a shot making the next shooter have to try a little harder as the bottle has moved. They make a good active target, when hit.
