Yeah..it's another 45 auto. Bought it from a friend. He's never shot the darn thing...so it is new in the box. It is also out of the ordinary for me. It happens to be stainless Steel. A Remington R-1. He's going to be dropping it off here today..or tomorrow. I was with him when he bought it. He's been pretty sick lately and can't get around too well..but he's going to come back to Wyoming soon as he gets outta the hospital. He is also bringing a bunch of rifles he wants me to sell. I'm hopin I don't want to buy any of them. I've been buying too many things lately..Even lookin at a Harley. I am not sure...but I think I may have lost my mind!!

Vaqueros are ok guns. I've had a few over the last few years..but mainly fer trading stock. If I have a revolver it has to have adj sights. Useless without them. my carry guns are all fixed sights. Mostly all 45 autos..all semi's. If I gotta use 'em for their intended purpose it's probably gonna be a close range proposition. I learned a long time ago to look at what ya gotta shoot and bang it. Course I shoot a shotgun that way anyway.. ...Heck..while I was a typing the gal from Cody called and has the little 9mm Kahr my wife ordered in her safe waiting to be picked up.. Her new carry gun..woman is actually excited.. I done created a monster..

skeet,
Stainless .45s are nice guns. A few years ago I got a new S&W M645. It is a neat gun; it looks like a High Power on steroids.

Adam. I just sold a 745. Nice gun..accurate enough etc but..took mags other than Colt type(of which I have more'n a hundred) and I didn't like the trigger. Bought it cheap and sold it for a fair price... That's the money I am using for the Remington 1911. But I have a Kimber 1911 45 also. Selling it to purchase a S&W 4 inch M-57..Been trying to find one for a few years..and just found a first year gun..like new..too much money but..sometimes we just gotta have it..if ya know what I mean. My carry gun is usually a Wilson Combat..one of the more accurate 45s I have ever had. How'd the 4th shoot out and camp out go? Hope ya had lots of fun. We got rained on..hard. Rained like a cow peeing on a flat rock..which is really unusual here.. Rained last night too..another 1/2 inch..I'm starting to think I am back in Maryland. Talked to a farmer friend there last night..They've had so much rain he can't even get his wheat cut..

Skeet, Saw your post to Adam about wanting a S&W Model 57 in 4 inch. Good Luck. My son just bought a 4 inch Model 657 to carry when he is hunting with a bow or crossbow. Mianly in case he blunders into a bear in a bad mood. The Model 657 I found at the local sporting goods I do repair work for. It was a consignment gun that I am not sure had been fired. Pristeen condition. All of the tolerances are right on. He paid a little over what a new 57 wholesales for but 657s are not available. He thought the stainless would require a little less care. I love the 41 maagnum. For bad business use the Oregon Trail laser cast that is 258 grains. Made for shooting trucks.

Well I see 'em quite often. As stated I found a like new first year gun..a bit too much money but..it was what I wanted. I bought one a couple or 3 weeks ago but it was a 6 inch 657 with a Leupold pistol scope and the original rear sight.. But since I wanted a 4 inch I sold it..made a bit of profit too. I have a heavy wide flat nose mould for the 41..casts a 260 gr bullet with gas check.. fun and games I can still push it 1300 ft per..nuff fer them there bears I think. Shoots good outta my Ruger BlackHawk..

Skeet!,
You are on a real gun buying spree aren't you!
Well that's great have done that before and traded or sold
off one to get another one I wanted more! Keeps it interesting
and always fun, let me know how that R-1 45 shoots , I had been
looking at them and heard pros and cons on Remingtons quality
control.
Regards 6.5 :)

No not really on a buying spree. I buy and sell a few. mainly ones I would like to have. Some work out..some don't. I bought a Kimber 84 M in 260..and sold it..got a 308 later and sold it..both were accurate enough..just wasn't what I was lookin for..Ended up buying another 260...and it is a real shooter. Not all that much of a caliber..but it do shoot. Then I got a 338 Kimber 8400. Classic Select etc and it is a better shooter than I am ...by far. Gonna be my elk rifle I am a 1911 guy though..I was with the fellow when he bought the R-1. A few days later he hurt his back pretty badly..thought a chiropractor was gonna fix him up..and it went downhill from there.. Just got out of the hospital and since he has not worked for a while..needed some money and him being a friend..I bought it for what he had in it... quickly. It looks like a pretty fair 45..except for being SS. Gonna see how it works this coming week. Paying 650 for any new decent 45 isn't too bad. It is a what they call a R-1 enhanced..whatever that means. Guess I will find out if it is enhanced 'nuff to keep!. Going to the Bozeman gun show next weekend..mainly lookin for bullet moulds presses and dies..bullets etc may be on the menu also.. Keeps the wolf from the door and I enjoy buying and selling. Been doing it since oh gosh..1965 or so..Makes me feel uuuhhhh OLD??
I have a 645 also. No longer my go-to carry gun with my Sig collection. But still serves its purpose

Skeet,
Let me know how that R-1 shoots!
I am using a Para P-12 for my carry 45 and if you ever get
an opportunity to get a Taurus P-1911 for a good price don't
be afraid to buy it . I have a Stainless PT-1911 AR Taurus
Pistol and it is one of my Favorite 45's Great Trigger shoots
very accurate and no FTF or FTE as of yet in 2 yrs worth of shooting!
I have a lasermax laser on it and it is scary accurate! :D

I had a Para P-10 or 12 ..don't remember. It was a good shooter...but just felt really odd in my hand..sold it.. I also have a Para 6 shooter LDA and it is a fair shooter.. Not the most accurate at any distance but it is a small gun..and made for gun fighting range. It is small enough to hide pretty well. Odd trigger pull but goes bang every time. The only Taurus semi auto i have ever had was a PT-92..one of the most inaccurte handguns i have ever shot..I mean patterns at 10-15 yds or less I have a cylinder bore shotgun that shoots tighter.. Not a joke..LOL.. The R-1 is a nice looking handgun..but it IS SS..not my favorite. If I decide to keep it I'll let ya know how it shoots. If I do sell it..someone else will learn how it does. I have shot one that belonged to a fellow I know. He was just in Vegas..and got mugged leaving a casino..didn't even get a chance to pull his carry gun... Description..Black Guy..hoodie..big gun in his hand..said gimmee da money. Scared the crap outta him.. A hoodie..in Vegas..in the summer..117 that afternoon.. Think the POleece coulda found him??

Skeet,
I too was wandering about the R-1. Was thinking about making a custom gun out of one for a raffle gun. I was asked by a member of an association of military operators to make them a fund raiser gun.
