Thanks Jack!
That rifle was my mother in laws deer rifle, it was then a 30-06, She quit hunting and I bought it off of her and had a ER Shaw 26" medium weight
barrel put on it in 6.5-06, had my gunsmith true up the bolt face and Pillar bed it for
me and I bought a gray laminated Boyds thumbhole stock which I finished
myself It turned into a nice Ruger 77 custom configuration! Its a bit heavy
but I don't mind because of the way it shoots! :)

6.5

My 6.5-06 is a VZ24 Mauser action barreled with a Crown cold-hammer forged Austrian barrel stocked with a McMillan composite. Groups are .750 with Nosler ballistic tip 120 gr in front of 53 grains of 4831 powder. I am doing another 6.5 with Douglas bull barrel on a 1909 Argentine Mauser with a laminate stock.

JP,
That number 53 must be magic that's exactly how much I am using behind
IMR-4350 with the 120 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip 53 grains is a good number for
IMR 4350 and 4831 Is that H4831 or IMR 4831?
Regards 6.5 :)

Apologize for taking so long to respond to your question. I use IMR 4831.

very nice rifle and nice groups. Anytime you can shoot those types of groups you don't have a thing to be worried about.

Thanks Richard!,
Love to shoot long range groundhogs with this rifle,
it works very well with little holdover. A bit messy
though on the hogs head or body . I am one
of the Red Mist Culture members! :) LOL;)

I am surprised you would accept such appalling accuracy from a rifle. I think you should throw that rifle away. I would be happy to take such a terrible piece of machinery off your hands. :D

Scalerman,
I appreciate your concern of my well being and insufficient accuracy and
Thank You Very Much! for the offer to take it off my hands , but right
now I could always use a back up rifle so I think I will keep it around.
Just in Case!
Regards 6.5 ;) :D

No worries 6.5- just trying to be neighbourly. If at any time you do decide to deal with that rifle as it should be dealt with I will be happy take care of disposal for you.

:rolleyes::p

Very nice groups. What I did notice was the advetising on the target.

Whoops!
Buckhunter, that was not intentional. I had received those targets as a freebie from a friend of mine. Should have cut off the bottom part before I took the picture sorry about that! :)

No I find it interesting that in our anti gun society some business owner has the balls to advertise on a target. Its awesome.

As you have a 6.5x06 and like to mist a ground hog, let me show you something, a real mist maker, that you can do:

This is from my 6.5x06 with a 85gr Sierra and 48.5 gr of H-322 for a nice 3,755 fps, it is a max load. The rifle is a 700 BDL blue printed action with a Douglas Air Gage 26" barrel. It makes two reports, one from the muzzle blast and the other from the impact, like boom-boom...... H-322 is the replacement for Hi Vel #2 listed in the Ackley books. Only meat left in the skin is the skull and in the tips of the paws, on a 35 pound whistle pig, sometimes there is no skull, just meat in paws. The rest is a funnel shaped fine red spray on the grass behind....:D Oh, the impact will disintegrate a gallon jug of water, even the handle is shattered. Try it.... you will like it a lot.

Ed,
That sounds like a very interesting reciepe for dusting whistle pigs!
Will give it a try and let you know the results, Thanks Very Much :)
