Went to a gun show in Bozeman Mt. Just got out of the hospital yesterday so wasn't up to snuff.. But... I did get a few things and make a few observations. I was really kind of surprise at the low turnout. I must admit it was a beautiful day. We haven't had much of that in this area lately. It got above freezing by 0800. The copious amounts of snow are disappearing finally. Although we live in Wy/Mt we don't get the snow at lower elevations like all think we get. Mountain snow is tremendous this year. Where I hunt it is at 15 ft. Anyway..gun show. There were not the numbers of people..the wares were much more sparse than they have been lately. Not only didn't I buy a bullet mould..I didn't even see ONE for sale. Got many die sets mostly my favs..ie...Reddings. Most for very fair prices. Bought a like new in the box Ruger Single Six with both cylinders for under 300 bucks. Not a great price but a fair one. Got an older(1922) Smith Hand Ejector in 32-20. Don't ask...I don't know why. Bought some primers from a vendor friend..prices were very reasonable..28 bucks per M.. Powder was not in great supply...but did get a pound of IMR 4064. Bought a Swift not long ago and that powder is the cat's Meow in the Swift. Price was fair at 25. Also got a few pounds of other powders mainly for handgun shooting that I hadn't seen for a while..and got 'em cheap. One of my friends that does some loading for others glommed onto some for his reloading..Gotta share ever now and again.. Found lots of littles that I like to find. Found a complete case forming die set for 243 in a junk box for 5 bucks..and a complete primer pocket swager that was made many years ago for the RCBS A press. It was unique to them and the guy didn't know what it was. Luckily I did and got the darn thing for a ridiculous price.. That thing cost 22 dollars in 1958. One of the better buys was a few OLDER loading manuals with data for older powders I have. Gonna crank up the 650 Dillon in 45 Colt now 44 Special too. Use some of that powder up. All in all had a good if abbreviated time. Powders are still hard to find as is ammo in many calibers. Sales of rifles is very slow and handguns are not much better. Powder supplies are so low one of the better cast bullet companies out here told me their sales are down..mainly because the standby powders for much handgun shooting is not available. Nother show coming up next week...but I am gonna be doing this one..not just attending;)

Hunting bud n myself are going to a show in Col Springs this morning. Don't really expect to buy anything! Probably going to be a short trip. Will advise later.
Sorry to hear that you are still having problems.
Dan

Up date, decent show, A lot of AR's, ammo was fair supply and pricey. 8lb keg of 4350 $212, actually had one guy trying to sell CCI LR primers for $68 a 1k.....looked a lot and left with nothing!
Dan

Oh yeah, 1911 GI MAGS $50......EACH

50 bucks for GI mags?? That means I am rich..well a little. I must have more than 80. Every time I buy a 45 it seems I get one or two. and they almost always seem to work. lol. I have an old WWI 2 tone mag with lanyard loop that is beat up ugly and works great in every gun I put it in. it is truly an early mag. Got it with a 1914 made Colt.

Dan there were a bunch of ARs at the show I was at..and a lot of interest at their tables. Think the pols are starting to talk restrictions again..An awful lot of interest in what they call tactical stuff. Guy tried to sell me a 'tactical" shotgun. I told him..nah..I got 'nuff shotguns. He said you don't a tactical shotgun. I then told him I considered ANY shotgun a tactical shotgun. Let somebody rack the slide on a Rem 870 or Mossy 500 at night. Give ya a little pucker for certain:eek:

You are right about the pucker factor there on the pump shotguns buddy. Glad you got to look a bit, hope everything is going better for you and you get over your hospital stay.

Do me a favor at the next show, if you see Christy or her bunch from Going Ballistic ask them when their durned website is going to be back up. I have been twiddlin my thumbs waiting to get a price on some cast. I sent her an email, but haven't see a response yet.

Good luck at the show. Hope you sell so much you have to shut down your booth, and hope you buy so much you bog down the truck. :p

LOL, I assure you the guy still has his $50 mags! The primers were an eye opener too. Did see a LOT of very rough jap rifles. really didn't go down there to buy, just wanted to get out of house. That 4350 price really gave sticker shpck!

That price on an 8 lb is about the going price at most of the shows here. 200 for certain anyway. I got a keg of 4350 and another of 7828 SSC at the last show in Billings for a little under wholesale. 135 each. But the guy was afraid he was going to go home with 'em I guess. That price on CCI primers was ridiculous. Heck the stores here have 'em for 40 or so.

I saw the Going Ballistic guys at the show Saturday. They have their shop surrounded by sandbags from all the flooding. Might let up in about a week or two. We have a lot of flooding from ice dams on the cricks(they call 'em rivers here??) The Yellowstone river had more'n 4 ft of ice on it. Not now. dammed up under all the bridges

oooh well that explains it. Maybe when the flooding goes down they will get back to me. thanks for the info.

I haven't been to a show in awhile, but I am going to try to hit up the next one with dad.

Be safe!

We have such an odd winter here.. Not very much fun. We have 300 days a year of sun...if'n it keeps up..we surely won't make it this year. Get to a show or two. You have to start looking for reloading items. Try to find a good press..powders..bullets. Primers seem to be coming back into the loop.
