A local club was having a "snowball match" 6 shots at 500,300 & 100 yards, 1/2" rings. 5 shots for score so basically your first shot was sighter. One of my foreman mentioned it on Friday and I figured what the heck. It would break up the winter. Unseasonably warm weather made it a fun morning, starting at 29 degF at 9 am. It was 45 by 11. Went into it blind but the folks were nice. I dropped 3 points at 500 and thought I was shooting pretty crappy. Ended up letting a buddy shoot my gun too...
Well needless to say out of a 150, I shot a 147-6x and he shot a 143-5x and my lil 6XC took home both first and second place. I still thought there was no reason not to clean them all with a gracious 1.5" 10 ring but it was a good shoot to shake off the winter jitters. Since it's only 18 shots close to home and only takes a couple hrs, I'm sure I'll be attending the regular matches starting in April. Used to shooting steel, so the paper groups were a bit of change. Still it was fun to get out and send some lead down range
