The Best Lure Made ?

There are several that come to mind, But I love the Rubber Worm, and you cant beat a Floating Rapala Minnow.

What do you think is the Best Lure Made ?:D

Lilred 08-14-2004 06:56 AM

Fer all round lures, I'd say the Charlie brewer's slider, and fer bass, I like my jitterbug :D

Andy L 08-19-2004 05:41 PM

Had to pick one lure for bass year round?

1/4oz Brown Jeringan Jig with Green Pumpkin Zoom Lil Critter Craw for trailer. Hands down. Proven to catch bass in all water colors, all depths, all times of the year. Flip it shallow, swim around cover, drag it deep or verticle for suspended fish.

A guy I fish against alot, qualified for the Bassmaster Classic this year and made the final cut with this bait. And, I know for a fact, that bait got him to the show as well.

Others may beat it at times, thats why my boats so loaded down, ;) , but, would suffice if I had to only have one.

Up here it is the Len Thopson 5 of diamonds... pike, walleye, and lake trout all love it.. I think I have 6 of them in my tackle box..

ghost stalker 10-20-2004 10:08 PM

panther marten has caught every fresh water predator and a few non-predators as well for me. the copper ones are my fav.

Best lure I have ever used was a Rebel Crawfish in Fire Tiger

F77 Floating 1-1/2" 1/10th ounce althought these days they call it Chartreuse-Green (041) instead of fire tiger (back when I bought it the box was labeled fire tiger.)

The 519 Texas red works purty well in muddy rivers etc, but for lakes the fire tiger is MUCH better in my experience.

As far as I'm concerned, the best lure ever made is the one catching fish for me at any given time.:D Hope this helps.;)

You guys are overlooking the obvious.
The best lure made?
DuPont spinners.
Works on any species, any conditions, any time:p

SuperMagnum 11-12-2004 09:33 AM

Wally divers, works almost everytime for walleye, northern, and bass as that's all I usually fish for.

my flounder lure. made in my garage

A simple spoon

I have used them for 40+ years for everyting from bass to salmon to all varieties of salt water fish. If I I were limited to one lure, it would be a spoon. Gold for salt water and silver for fresh.:)

Jack 12-20-2004 10:53 PM

earschplitinloudenboomer,
Hadn't heard that term before:) It was always Dupont spinners or Dupont sinkers, around here.

Hey Jack;

...here's another one for you...5/0 treble with a chunk of lead...
BRONZE BOMBER!!!!

Jack 01-02-2005 09:11 PM

You mean Michigan Crickets?;)

GoodOlBoy 01-04-2005 04:32 PM

Let us not forget a 1/4 inch piece of earthworm on a bronze #6 Eagle Claw Aberdeen Crickett Hook, a can of beer, a keen eye, and the ability to jerk the lips off a 400lb catfish in less time than it takes to blink. . . . . .

i personally like my sluggos and senkos

TCLouis 02-20-2005 10:41 AM

Best of the best

A small white spinner bait.

I have taken 3 foot gar and 27" smallmouth on mine. And lots of redeyes and other stuff including a couple of big drum ( but I won't tell about those)! Beetle spind can accout for some goodies also!

Mepps spinners of different sizes and colors also.

LouisB

Course it is only my opinion

M.T. Pockets 03-17-2005 09:25 AM

I'd say a lead head jig, but that's too easy.

If down to one I'd take a Rapala Shad Rap, 2 3/4" in Firetiger.

Duffy 03-17-2005 11:19 AM

Plastic worms all the way!

rem 700 06-03-2005 12:14 PM

I like little cleo spinners, and i also like blakemoore roadrunners with tube bodies or curly tail grubs

Steverino 06-03-2005 12:34 PM

Roadrunners are a great go to lure for me when the action is slow on the bass...a great crappie presentation in the smaller offerings as well!

Boy...it'd almost be a toss up for me as far as the best (kinda like saying only one rifle or shotgun... ) lot depends on the quarry and conditions. it have to be down to the Rapala Shad Rap in the natural shad color and/or a white 1/2oz. sinle Colorodo bladed spinner-bait. I'd give the nod probably to the spinner-bait being that you can burn it through cover, is relatively snag-proof, and can be dressed with different tails and slow-rolled or pitched/flipped like a jig.

Allen 06-03-2005 09:34 PM

For me there are 2 "just one" or "best" lures to choose from.

#1 choice would be a 3/8 oz spinner bait, white with chrome willow blades. This bait can catch fish in just about any conditions. It can be fished fast, slow, shallow or deep. It will work in most waters most times of the year. Many different fish have been taken with this bait.

#2 choice would be the 6" plastic worm and 3/16 oz weight. It is said that more fish have been caught on the plastic worm than any other lure. The worm will work year round and in any conditions. It is the go to bait for missed strikes. The only problem would be picking the color.

Rooster Tails

gd357 06-05-2005 02:35 PM

I think mother nature answered that question a long time ago... the best bait ever made is live bait.:D ;)

gd357

Steverino 06-06-2005 12:27 PM

Technically Speaking Gd...

live bait wouldn't really be a lure now, would it?;)

Just givin' you a hard time!:D

I use live bait (worms, minnows, & shiners) quite a bit for Northern, and walleye along with the majority of pan fishing duties with the "youngen."

Viper1 09-02-2005 01:20 AM

The Best Lure Made

Mepps Aglia #3 with silver spinner for bass, pike, crappie & yellow perch
