Somebody 'Splain Me This

A few months ago, a trade organization asked me to come speak at their annual meeting, on the topic of Six Sigma, which is what our company provides.

The meeting is in the Bahamas, and I'm leaving in the morning... just Friday to get there, Saturday to play, give my spiel on Sunday, and catch a plane home that afternoon.

The fee was enough to cover a ticket for my wife, so she's going too.

Now here's the part I don't understand. We're there for two days only. Most people only wear one set of clothes, or maybe two, in a day.

Why did my wife need six new outfits for this trip?

VinVega 01-13-2005 11:59 PM

That is a touchy subject. Don't ask questions, just smile, and nod your head.:D

iwerk2hard 01-14-2005 12:17 AM

Vin is right. Smile and nod your head.
Nobody has figured out why a wife needs a lot of the things she does, she just needs them.
It would help to compliment her on how good she looks in the new outfits when you see her in each of them, even if it isn't on this trip. (Even if the outfit is not very attractive, SHE looks good in it, don't mention anything negative.)
Remember this, even if you have to put a small reminder on your loading bench or in your gun safe. The next time she questions your need for another gun or any related accessories, simply explain that your needs are as almost as important as hers, remind her of how good she looked in that new outfit, then ask her how you look holding that new custom made beauty of a shootin' iron.
Good luck.
:D

ONLY 6 sets? Man, count yourself lucky, and ask her if that's ALL she's taking!! Some things in life you just gotta accept, Waidmannsheil, Dom.

There's no rational explanation for it. Hmmm... come to think of it, there's no rational explanation for most of the things women do (no offense to those of you here, you seem to be exceptions to the rule). I guess that's like asking why we have 3 pairs of shoes while they have 27. I have no idea.:D And then they ask which pair will go with whatever outfit they are wearing. Another question that still has me at a loss. Is there a correct answer? If so I haven't found it yet.:D :D :D

I can give you a reason. It might now be the right reason but it'll make sense.

She needs 6 new outfits to take on the trip for the same reason you have 6 guns that do pretty much the same thing.

If you have a shotgun in 12 gauge and one in 20 gauge a rifle in .22 WMRF and one in .17 Hmr and one in .30-06 and one in .308

you COULD do without at least 3 of them. Same as she could do without 3 of the outfits

My wife & I have an unspoken agreement. I don't explain my guns to her and she doesn't explain her clothes to me.

We get along great.

wrenchman 01-14-2005 10:33 AM

There is a big difference with this you are takeing your wife.
Ok so i will help out just a little becouse i am a man.
you asked your wife to come with you now she is expecting you to take her out on the town and maybe breakfest before you fly back.
i am sure lil red and and the other girls could tell you a little more
she dont want to go that far just to sit in a hotel besides she might have brought a outfit that you didnt get a good look at.
You are forgetting the main thing that drives us men lol.

Take my approach. When you're asked something along the lines of "Which looks better, the black or the blue?" simply say "Yes." Just remember, I'm not married, so I don't know how that would turn out...good luck!
:D

iwerk2hard 01-14-2005 12:44 PM

Vin
Good advice again.
I'd suggest that you go one step further and say something like "You look great in either of them, which one is more comfortable for you?". But I'll hold that advice for those who are already married. I think you are doing OK without the extra flattery. You aren't married and you seem to be happy. Put the fertilizer on too thick and you might end up getting married or something.
Keep it low key and enjoy what you have. The rest will come soon enough.
:)

TreeDoc 01-14-2005 07:50 PM

Just for that...I'd find a hot, ditzy Bimbo on the beach. Leave your wife there and bring the Bimbo home.

Valigator 01-15-2005 07:40 AM

Jeez you guys...

1. outfit for flight there..

2. outfit for rest of day

3. outfit for dinner

4. outfit for next day

5. bathing suit outfit.

6. outfit for flight home...shoot everyone knows this...

denton 01-15-2005 11:33 AM

Well, here we are.... about 80 degrees, which is a shock to the system, but nice.

Sure enough, before we could leave the hotel, she tried on three outfits.

Anyway, we're just walking around... plenty to see at the hotel, with an aquarium that has a clear tunnel, etc.

There's a casino, but, having studied statistics, and having lived in Nevada, that isn't much of a draw. All the casinos in Nevada were built with money people lost.

It's just nice to get a little sun and be with my honey.

TreeDoc 01-15-2005 12:31 PM

Any photos of ditzy Bimbos yet?

gd357 01-16-2005 11:36 PM

Tell ya one thing you got by Cheap. I leave mine home and she really goes on a shopping frenzy !

denton 01-17-2005 12:41 PM

A couple of comments about the Bahamas:

1. Warm, pleasant weather. Palm trees, beaches, clear water, nice people.

2. Stay away from the tourist traps. Everything at our hotel was outrageously priced: $5.25 for a quart of bottled water, $30 an hour for dial-up internet, $14 for a BLT sandwich. Downtown Nassau is a lot cheaper.

3. If you're in the West, there are a lot of equally pleasant places to go, for a lot less money, a lot closer to home. A lot of New Yorkers end up in the Bahamas for vacation.

4. Your road-crossing habits are totally backwards, since they drive on the left. It is very easy to look the wrong way, and to step out into traffic.

5. Unbelievable yachts are tied up there. Some of them are the size of a destroyer.

Lilred 01-17-2005 08:14 PM

lmao at this here thread...
I just wish some of them there women out there took a dam bath as often as they change their clothes!
With that said..i dont reckon I can add anythin..i'm lucky to own 6 pair of clothes..much less usin all of em up over a weekend.
Now tomorrow, I got a meetin with all them district fellers and I gotta dress up...now I can honestly say..that I'll go ask my ole man "What should I wear?" ...cause I got as much fashion sense as Phylis Diller goin to a Sunday revival in a good ole Suthren baptist church.
Sorry folks...I caint answer ya'lls questions either.

Son, Your trying to make logic out of this. Logic is of no concern when it comes to women. My brother says it best, "They all go buy the same Book" MC
