I disagree with PETA as much as anyone else, but I do respect their right to believe what they want to believe. Gun activists are seen equally nuts by animal activists as animal activists look to gun activists.
PROLIFE has members who assinate doctors. Why don't we sign a petition to do away with their status as well - it's because some of you support them. The bottom line is the laws being violated are mostly either caused by individuals or local chapters or are exagerated by conservative media or special interest groups. I am against PETA, but their tax free status should remain in my opinion. |
PBR you may want to rethink your position on this issue.

LOL !! Later All SAFE HUNTIN~ |
Because one guy says something and a few people actually listen does not mean the organization is full of terrorists. Besides, the guy in your media player was about to **** himself as he was talking...
and yea, prolife is not a tax-free organization but it is organized and thus could be just as dangerous...as it has proved. You can not make a particular stance illegal just because 1. a few make the group look bad 2. you disagree with them. the fact is if a petition read simply "PETA is group of animal activists and they should not have a tax free status" There are countless numbers of gun owners who would sign such a ridiculas piece of paper. My point is how many people belonging to the NRA has openly said they would open their front door blazing away in a last burst of glory if the government knocked on their door to collect firearms if legislation was passed and supported by the general public (through who they vote for). This has been typed on every single firearm forum I have ever been on...including right from the mouth of Heston. Now this is far more radical in tone and reaction. I dont' see any NRA members saying - whoa the NRA has gone too far on that one --- no they applaud it and want more. What's the difference? The difference is you (no one in particular nor anyone on these forums) agree with the NRA's general adgenda and oppose any organization to any extent possible who stand in the way. I'm not talking about Heston because his statement was purly motivational - but when real people say this 1. They are either talking out of pure emotion or want to appear cocky 2. they would really do it. If it's #2, the gun industry (at least on firearm forums on the internet and people I've met on the range) contains 1000 times more potential terrorists than the anti-gun agency. Before we proceed, I would like to add I'm not arguing, slamming, or attacking anyone. I'm mearly offering this up for an reasonable and friendly debate. |
No flames intended either. This is just some conversation over a few beers. :)
A member of a group esposuing illegal views is one thing, but the head of an organization is another. Domestic terrorism is terrorism. If they want to play by those rules, then my tax dollars shouldn't be giving them a pass. They should not have the luxury of tax exemption. I'll have to pick up the rest tomorrow. Just got chicken off the grill and I'm hungry. :D Be well. |
I'm number 52,636 :D

When I signed yesterday I was mid 47,xxx. :) :)

signed...Peta has overstepped its right for tax-free status....I dont have tax-free status for God's sake.....and I am not being financed to go around blowing up anything I dont like....this is way past a point of disagreement.....I liken them to a radical group who has no other agenda but to cause destruction and turmoil because they are bored. Tax-exempt my butt, pull the rug out from them...its way overdue...I am a law abiding citizen who gets more chunks takin out of me every year...for these a****s not to pay...I dont think so....
|
Terroists er no terroists..the meanin of the word terroist had gotten so broad to begin with, that Strawberry Shortcake could be one. Paranoia..er however ya spell it..
Bein tax exempt in the state of va (which I am most dishonored in sayin..I think that's where Peta is located..that's what happens when they move down here from the North ;) ) aint based on terroism, aggravated assaults er the like. They must be a non-profit organization. Sales & use taxes dont apply to them fools, which is another tax exempt status, like farmin too. Now, I think them fools oughta be payin too..but..legally..I caint figure the basis on em havin to do so. They can give money to Sadam Hussein..but as long as they aint makin a profit on nuthin..I dont see how legally..they can be made to pay taxes. Who they give their money to..well the state dont care bout that..well..I take that back..they do..but as long as it's given legally..Uncle Sam dont come a knockin on yer door. It might be not be RIGHT, but it's law abidin. Now dont git me wrong, them fools all need to git in a boat, and float into a cajun swamp somewhere and live with Amos Moses...but unfortunatley..legal is legal. I dont see it in PBR's view however..all I see is the legality of it. If someone can prove that they give their money to terroists and the like, then we need to concentrate on shuttin em down period..and to hell w/ the tax exempt status..lol |
I gotta say, Im surprised. Surprised that anyone that likes to hunt, trap, fish, eat meat, ect.... would care what it took to take a swipe at PETA.
They surely wouldnt show any of us the same courtesy..... You can be sure of that. But, thats your opinon and more power to ya.... Andy |
Oh dear Andy,
I signed that there petition..I took my swipe..wether it be law abidin er not ;) I said that they might be tax exempt, but I sure aint say that make a dam to me ridin ner walkin..and Lilred surely dont mind takin a whack at anybody..sometimes that backfires tho...cause they wind up likin it ..and there sure aint nuthin wrong with gittin tied to the whippin post a time er two...as long as the whipper does some mighty good whippin LOL ;) :p |
