Need Opinins Please..

I'm (well..my hubby is doin most of the work) building a truck fer myself..as a toy to fun around in and a 3rd workin vehicle. It's a 3/4 ton Dodge..the secret is in the motor..it's a 385 c.u. 318 stroker..it'll fly!
With that said..I have decided on a dark orange paint job, maybe the bottom bein a flat black w/ a wide yeller pin stripe seperatin the 2 colors. Here's my problem:

I bought the plates already..which say "Jeneral" (my name is Jennifer) so it just struck me as funny. I was goin w/ a the General Lee thing. But then while listenin to one of my blugrass cd's..I heard the Orange Blossom Special. Then I got to thinkin, the General Lee's been done. Besides, a real General is a 69 Charger. Aint nobody ever done an Orange Blossom Special.
Now, fer those of ya'll that taint never heared of the orange blossom special..ya need to look it up..lol.
Yes, it was a train...this is a truck. But I was thinkin about havin "Orange Blossom Special" painted on the back panels of the truck, at the top right behind the rear wheels. In that scrollin cowboy/western font that I caint friggin find on the web! GRRRR...(iffin ya'll could help me find that there font, I would really appreciatte it)
Anyways..what do ya'll think...General or the Orange Blossom Special???

I like your idea of the "Orange Blossom Special". I think that would be cool, but I don't know where you would come up with the font. Anyway luck to you and when you get done post some pics. Please.

So you're looking for the Charlie Daniels "Fire on the Mountain" style font?

Sounds like a good name for a Dodge tear'em up truck!

Lilred 07-24-2005 05:58 AM

Close but not quite Mil..I wish I could think of somethin right off that has that font on it..but I caint.
It has what I call...squirrel tails on it. each word generally has 1 going underneath it..and I think it was a cowboy/western type font. I searched google fer em..and I seen some perty good western fonts..but not that one. I might have to settle fer somethin else. I'll try to make an example today and see what ya'll think.
As fer as a woman on my truck Wolvie..the only woman anywheres on my truck will be me lol..I dont want it to look too manly..I was thinkin of havin a orange blossom mixed in with the letterin too.

Dernit..lemme see what I can do..iffin my lilones will let me

Well From what I hear ,....

LilRed your a looker yourself,..
So if that be the deal ,then take a pic of yourself and have someone convert it to a graphic and apply it to your truck ,.....

I was hoping though that you would consider it (the Daisy Duke), then when ya got the graphic I wa going to ask you who did it and get me one,...
DANG GUM IT!!!!

I gotta go take another shower,..A cold one ,..BBL,...

There's a "pulling" truck called the orange blossom special that appears at monster truck shows that has existed for quite a few years, and it has a pretty nice font used on it.

i tried a fast search for you, but didn't find anything offhand on it.
it is a sharp little truck, once you've seen it you always know it.

i'll see if i can find it later today on the net.

:) ... actually, the Seaboard Line's "Orange Blossom Special" (#3003 : maiden route 1938, first electric-powered passenger rail engine : Washington - Palm Beach or St. Petersburg) had it's name written on the engine in a curly handwriting script... like "Monotype Corsiva" on MS Word.... Engine and car colors were yellow, orange and forest green.

;) that said... here's some examples of vairous western fonts...

With that "flying" motor you might want to go with a camo color for the blue and red folks lol

LILRED BACK A FEW YEARS AGO, IE: 50'S-60'S THERE WAS A DRAGSTER OR A FUNNY CAR THAT WAS CALLED THE ORANGE BLOSSOM SPECIAL. IT PERFORMED REGULARLY IN THE NHRA CIRCUIT. DARNED IF I CAN REMEMBER ANY OF THE DETAILS THOUGH. SORRY.

YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO FIND SOMETHING ABOUT IT AT NHRA WEB SITE.
